Interviews can be rehearsed.

Experience can’t be faked for a decade.

Sometimes the best reference is the person who has actually worked with them.

We hate hearing that hiring isn’t always fair.

Sometimes great candidates lose opportunities because of budget, timing, location, or an internal candidate.

That doesn’t make them less qualified.

A “no” doesn’t always mean you weren’t good enough.

It may simply mean the circumstances changed.

I think internal recruiting teams lose great candidates all the time.

Because they don’t take the time to understand why that candidate would make a move.

Compensation. Motivation. Career goals. Expectations.

Those conversations need to happen early, not when you’re already at the offer stage.

A candidate checking all the boxes doesn’t mean they’re going to say yes.

Are you interviewing for experience or motivation?

Too many hiring managers focus on what a candidate has done.

But experience doesn’t tell you why they’ll stay.

What motivates them: growth, stability, money, challenge?

If that motivation doesn’t align with what your company offers, even a great candidate can become a bad hire.

Hire for more than experience.
