Amazing engine

It’s bigger than a bus, weighs 18 tons, and swallows more air than any engine in history. This is the GE9X, and it’s about to launch the next era of long-haul flying aboard the Boeing 777X.

GE’s monstrous turbofan has 16 carbon-composite blades, a fan diameter of 134 inches, and produces 110,000 pounds of thrust. It’s already survived dust blasts, bird strike simulations, and 27,000 test cycles. Engineers say it’s the toughest trial regime any GE engine has ever faced.

And the payoff? 10% more fuel efficiency than the GE90, 55% fewer NOx emissions, and a pressure ratio that defies physics—61:1.

The 777X it will power? Still delayed, with first deliveries not expected until 2026, but the engines are ready. FAA certification has been cleared. Lufthansa will be first to fly it.

With 3D-printed parts, blisk compressors, and ceramic matrix composites, the GE9X isn’t just powerful—it’s a leap forward in aviation tech.

This isn’t just the next engine. It’s the one that makes the world’s biggest twinjet possible.
