PROs Networking had another strong meeting this week with a great mix of mindset, practical education, and real-world business experience. From gratitude, to estate planning, to websites that actually work, this meeting was a good reminder that success is not just about what you sell. It is also about how you treat people, how well you prepare, and how clearly you communicate value.

Deborah kicked off our Business EDU moment with a message about gratitude. She started with two simple words: thank you. From there, she reminded the group that authentic gratitude stands out, especially in business. Deborah pointed out that the most successful people are often the most appreciative. They thank their vendors, employees, partners, suppliers, and everyone else who touches their business. Her message was a strong reminder that while so many businesses focus heavily on metrics, performance, and growth strategies, gratitude may be one of the most powerful tools we have. It makes people feel seen, valued, and treated like true partners instead of transactions.

What stood out most in Deborah’s presentation was the idea that business moves at the speed of relationships. People may forget your pitch or your pricing, but they remember how you made them feel. Gratitude helps strengthen relationships, creates goodwill, and often spreads further than we realize. It was a simple message, but an important one, and a good reminder that appreciation is not soft. It is strategic, memorable, and contagious.

Key takeaways from Deborah’s presentation:
• Authentic gratitude stands out
• Strong businesses are built on strong relationships
• People remember how you make them feel

Next, we heard a presentation focused on probate planning, including a helpful explanation of Lady Bird deeds. Briefly, a Lady Bird deed, also known as an enhanced life estate deed, is a Florida estate-planning tool that can let someone keep control of their homestead during their lifetime while allowing the property to transfer automatically to named beneficiaries at death, outside of probate. It is often discussed in Florida because it can preserve certain homestead benefits and may help avoid some Medicaid estate recovery issues, though it does not replace a full estate plan and does not keep other non-deeded assets out of probate. Because the details can affect taxes, Medicaid planning, and inheritance issues, this is one of those topics where Florida-specific legal advice really matters.

The presentation also covered some of the advantages that make Lady Bird deeds appealing in Florida. The speaker explained that they can help someone avoid probate on the home while still keeping homestead advantages, and that they generally do not trigger the same concerns people often hear about with the five-year Medicaid look-back period. We also heard that they can be more affordable than setting up a trust in some situations, and that there can be tax advantages such as a stepped-up basis. At the same time, the speaker made it clear that there are still financial drawbacks to consider and that other assets would still have to go through probate if they are not planned for separately. It was a helpful reminder that avoiding probate is not always about one perfect tool, but about making thoughtful decisions based on the full picture.

Key takeaways from the probate presentation:
• A Lady Bird deed can help a Florida homestead transfer outside probate
• It may preserve key homestead and Medicaid-related advantages
• It does not solve probate issues for every asset

Justin Babcock

Our final speaker was Justin Babcock with Web Education Services. Justin walked the group through what makes a good website and what makes a bad one, starting with design. He talked about the importance of clarity, structure, and helping users quickly understand who you are, what you do, and what they should do next. A site can look nice on the surface, but if it is confusing, cluttered, or built without the user in mind, it will not perform the way it should. His presentation highlighted the difference between a site that simply exists and a site that actually works as a tool for the business.

Justin then shifted into the backend side of websites and SEO, explaining that good design alone is not enough. A strong site also needs to move well, function well, and give search engines the right signals. He talked about what helps a website rank, what helps it load and perform, and what makes it more useful both for visitors and for search visibility. It was a great reminder that a website is not just a digital brochure. When it is built correctly, it becomes a business asset that supports credibility, discoverability, and conversion.

Key takeaways from Justin’s presentation:
• Good website design should be clear, useful, and easy to navigate
• A good-looking site still needs strong backend structure
• SEO and performance both matter if you want a site to move and rank

We started the day by welcoming Amy Choudhury with Fitness 360 as our newest member. Amy is a certified personal trainer based in Palm Harbor, and it was great to have her join the group. She holds a NASM certification, has been with the business for three years, and has spent the last year working as a personal trainer. She shared that about 30 to 40 percent of her business comes by referral, that she builds referral business by talking to everyone and anyone, and that she also promotes her business through social media and events. It is always exciting to welcome someone who is ready to thrive, learn, and grow with the group.

Our Business EDU speaker was Kert Rhodes with Kleer Title, and his topic was listening. Kert started by asking a simple question that made everyone think: how good are you at listening? From there, he broke down the difference between internal listening and focused listening.

Internal listening is when we are mostly thinking about ourselves and how what someone is saying affects us. Focused listening, on the other hand, is when we are really paying attention to the speaker, their words, and even their body language. His message was a strong reminder that listening is one of the most important skills we have, both in business and in relationships. We often spend a lot of time trying to become better speakers, but Kert reminded us that we actually do more listening than speaking, and we should be intentional about doing it well.

Key takeaways from Kert’s presentation:
• Internal listening keeps the focus on yourself instead of the speaker
• Focused listening means paying attention to words, tone, and body language
• Listening is one of the most important skills we use every day

Next, we heard from Jonathan Hernandez with Coldwell Banker. Jonathan started by sharing photos of his family and talking about how proud he is of his two-year-old daughter, which gave everyone a more personal look at who he is. He has always lived in Palm Harbor, and that connection to the area has shaped both his life and his career. As a kid, he loved the water and spent a lot of time fishing. That passion led him into a career working on boats, diving, and running trips, and eventually he became a captain. He shared how demanding that world can be because when clients call, you have to be ready to go at a moment’s notice. Along the way, he found himself surrounded by people who were thriving, and instead of just working around them, he paid attention, took notes, and learned from them.

Over time, Jonathan took his knowledge of the area, his network, and his experience serving people into real estate. Today, he represents clients in a different way, but the foundation is still the same. He understands people, neighborhoods, and especially waterfront properties. What stood out most in his presentation is that he is really in the business of connecting people and properties. Building trust and developing a strong knowledge base is a big part of what he does. He also let the group know that he handles rentals, which makes him a valuable resource for even more people in the community.

Key takeaways from Jonathan’s presentation:
• He has deep roots in Palm Harbor and strong local knowledge
• His background on the water shaped his work ethic and perspective
• He understands waterfront properties, neighborhoods, and rentals

Jake Trimble
Brightway Insurance - Dittman Agency

[email protected]
brightway.com/agencies/FL/Oldsmar/0183

Our last speaker was Jake Trimble with Brightway Insurance - Dittman Agency. Jake started by talking about hurricane season, which made his presentation especially timely. He shared that he worked at State Farm for a year and really liked the company, but he also realized it was hard to do the best possible job for clients when he could only offer one company’s products. That pushed him to go independent so he could offer more options and better help clients find the right fit. Today, he can help with a variety of policies, and if there is something he does not personally write, he can still connect people with the right professionals.

Jake also gave the group some practical advice that every homeowner should hear before storm season. He reminded everyone to know the difference between their AOP deductible and their hurricane deductible, since hurricane deductibles are often a percentage of the home’s insured value and can be much larger than expected. He talked about flood insurance as well, pointing out that many properties outside flood zones still experienced flooding two years ago. He reminded everyone that flood insurance has a 30-day waiting period, so it is not something you can wait to buy right before a storm. He also explained that roof coverage is changing, with more policies shifting toward cash value instead of full replacement. One of the most helpful things he offered was to review declarations pages for people so they can better understand what their policy actually says.

Key takeaways from Jake’s presentation:
• Going independent allowed him to offer more options to clients
• Homeowners need to understand both AOP and hurricane deductibles
• Flood insurance is separate and has a 30-day waiting period
• Roof coverage is changing on many policies

Katrin spoke about customer service and gave the group a thoughtful reminder that great service is often less about having the perfect answer and more about how you communicate with people when they need help. She emphasized the importance of starting conversations in a friendly way, listening carefully, and showing real compassion when someone brings a concern to your attention. Her message focused on being present with people, not rushing them, and helping them feel heard before trying to solve the problem. She also shared that small shifts in language and body language can make a big difference in how a customer experiences the interaction. Overall, her presentation was a strong reminder that customer service is not just a process. It is a human skill.

Key takeaways from Katrin’s presentation:
• Start friendly and end on a high note
• Practice active listening and do not rush
• Show compassion and repeat back the problem clearly
• Let customers know you are working on it with urgency
• Be honest

Next, we heard from Chip Tollefson with Entertainment Pros. Chip shared more of his personal and professional story, which made his presentation especially interesting. He is originally from South Dakota and joined the Marines when he was younger, where he developed technical skills and discipline that would later serve him well in business. During his time in the military, he worked in avionics and even had a custom paint shop. After that chapter, he moved into AV work and eventually worked at Sound Advice, where he gained experience as both a technician and a manager. Over time, he realized he wanted something more than the grind of working for someone else, and that led him to start Entertainment Pros.

Today, Chip’s company handles a wide range of AV and technology projects, including TVs, surround sound, home automation, exterior lighting, lighting control, and CAT 6 wiring. What stood out in his presentation was not just what he does, but how much he clearly enjoys the work. He talked about some of his favorite projects, including automated TVs and projectors, multi-room sound systems, outdoor entertainment setups, and smart home systems that let homeowners control everything from their phone. He also mentioned invisible speakers, which added one more example of how creative and customized his work can be. Chip’s presentation was a great example of how experience, technical skill, and the willingness to build something of your own can come together into a business that serves people in a very real way.

Key takeaways from Chip’s presentation:
• His background in the Marines helped shape his path
• He built Entertainment Pros after years of AV experience
• His business handles TVs, sound, automation, lighting, and wiring
• Some of his favorite projects include smart home and outdoor

Last, we heard from Larry Chavez with Plumbing Repairs R Us. Larry shared a story that was not just about business, but about a lifetime in the trade and the resilience it took to keep moving forward. He got his start in plumbing at just 9 years old, going around with his grandfather, who was also a plumber. That early exposure shaped the course of his life. After high school, his grandfather helped him get into an apprenticeship program in Chicago, which gave him the formal start he needed. Later, his grandfather even tried to help him secure a city job, but Larry knew he wanted something different. He wanted to work for himself.

That decision led Larry to start his first company as a subcontractor, and in 1984 he launched Oak Park Plumbing, working directly with customers. Later in life, family health issues led to retirement, and in 2002 he and his wife began looking for homes in Florida. They moved in July of 2004, but not long after, Larry’s wife passed away. He shared that he struggled during that season, and it was easy to understand why. Eventually, though, he realized he needed to get back to work. He returned to plumbing as an employee for a year, but before long he knew he still had the drive to run his own business. In 2005, he started Plumbing Repairs R Us and joined PROs. He has now been back in business for 20 years. Larry’s presentation was powerful because it reflected not only a deep knowledge of his trade, but also the kind of perseverance that only comes through real life experience.

Key takeaways from Larry’s presentation:
• Plumbing has been part of his life since childhood
• He chose entrepreneurship over a city job
• After a difficult season, he found his way back to business
• He started Plumbing Repairs R Us in 2005 and has now been back for 20 years

Another great morning with PROs Networking. This week’s meeting gave us a mix of encouragement, perspective, and personal stories about staying positive, learning from challenges, and finding purpose in the work we do.

Our first speaker was Joshua Natonio with Catalyst PT Clinics, Catalyst Physical Therapy and Diagnostics.

Joshua Natonio
Catalyst Physical Therapy and Diagnostics
Physical Therapy

Joshua shared a message around the idea of “be the goldfish.” He talked about having a short memory when bad things happen, learning from them, and moving forward instead of holding onto negativity. It was a simple idea, but one that really connected with the room.

A fun part of Joshua’s presentation was an exercise where we passed around a soccer ball. Each person shared one positive, one challenge, and one learning experience. It was a great way to focus on growth, stay upbeat, and hear some of the wins and lessons from others in the group.

Key takeaways from Joshua:
- Learn from difficult moments without getting stuck in them
- Positivity is a choice and a practice
- Challenges often bring valuable lessons
- Sharing both wins and struggles helps build connection

Our second speaker was Jane Obergfell with Mary Kay Skin Care & Cosmetics.

Jane Obergfell

Jane shared her story of hard work, service, creativity, and building a life around helping others. She started working young, babysitting and working in a deli by age 10, and later put herself through nursing school by babysitting for doctors and working a switchboard. She began her nursing career in Cleveland, Ohio, always striving to be the best she could be.

Beyond her work in nursing, Jane also had a creative side. She loved art, face painting, and eventually found an outlet for creativity and humor through clown work at the hospital. That experience led her to Mary Kay, first as a practical solution for removing clown makeup, and then as a business she truly loved. She found joy in the products, the creativity, the relationships, and the ability to serve others while building something of her own.

Key takeaways from Jane:
- A strong work ethic can shape your whole life
- Serving others well opens unexpected doors
- Creativity can show up in many different forms
- It is never too late to build something meaningful
- Loving what you do makes a difference in how you serve others

Thank you to Joshua and Jane for sharing with the group and making this another meaningful PROs Networking meeting.

Garrett was also our first spark for the Business EDU moment, and his topic was confidence.

Key takeaways from Garrett’s presentation:
• New tasks often begin with stress and uncertainty, but as you learn and grow, that stress can turn into confidence
• Most new opportunities start with at least a little fear because they are unfamiliar
• Doing hard things creates the opportunity to grow
• He introduced the idea of Type 2 fun, which is the kind of thing that feels tough in the moment but feels amazing afterward
• Examples included marathons, rollercoasters, spelunking, and hiking
• Garrett also shared a story about a friend who conquered a fear of heights in order to go cave exploring

It was a great reminder that confidence usually does not come first. It is built by stepping into things that challenge us.

Next, we heard from Kert Rhodes with Kleer Title.

Kert shared more about what makes KLeer Title a strong resource for buyers, sellers, agents, lenders, and other professionals involved in real estate transactions. KLeer Title is based in Palm Harbor, has been serving clients since 2018, and handles title insurance for residential and commercial properties throughout the state of Florida. They work with purchase sales, refinances, equity loans, commercial properties, vacant land, and other transactions that require title insurance. Kert also shared that KLeer Title offers educational and training classes, including CE classes for Realtors, which speaks to their commitment to helping others better understand the process.

Key takeaways from Kert’s presentation:

• KLeer Title provides title insurance across the state of Florida
• They do not charge notary fees
• They handle both residential and commercial transactions
• They also provide educational opportunities and CE classes for Realtors
• One helpful reminder from the presentation was that sellers usually choose the title company because they are typically the ones paying for the title insurance at closing
• Kert also pointed out that title insurance is unique because it is paid one time and does not renew every year
• He explained title insurance in a simple way through the ABCs of title insurance: what it is, what it does, and why it matters
• At the core, title insurance helps protect one of the biggest investments a person will make by helping ensure the property is clear of past liens, judgments, and recording issues

Last, we heard from Grace Gerson with Brilliance Painting LLC.
Grace did a great job speaking honestly about the real frustrations that come with painting. She talked about the smell, the drops that get everywhere, the detailed work, the frustration, and the unpredictability of paint. What stood out most was her honesty and commitment to doing things the right way.

Key takeaways from Grace’s presentation:
• Painting comes with a lot of unpredictable challenges
• Those frustrations happen to professionals too
• To be a great painter, you have to accept the unpredictability and avoid shortcuts
• When something does not go right, the right response is to fix it
• Grace shared a story about a job where she expected primer and two coats to be enough, but the result still did not look right
• She could have stopped there, and many homeowners may not have known the difference, but she chose to make it right
• She also shared an example about paint runs and how she makes sure they are sanded, corrected, and repainted properly

Grace’s message was simple and powerful. Doing the job right matters, even when no one else would notice the difference.

It was a fun day at PROs.

This one felt a little different right from the start because we kicked things off with breakfast together, provided by the group. Coffee and donuts definitely helped set the tone, and judging by the full house, they may have helped attendance too.

After everyone had a chance to grab some breakfast and settle in, we mixed things up with a fun challenge during our 60-second pitches. Each person was given a random action word and had to work it into their introduction on the spot.

Some of the words floating around the room included beach, superhero, coffee, shark, treasure, rocket, lighthouse, jungle, snowstorm, magnate, pirate, umbrella, fireworks, campfire, GPS, time machine, traffic jam, toolbox, fishing pole, storm, goldmine, puzzle, island, and rollercoaster.

It made for a lot of laughs, a lot of creativity, and a good reminder that sometimes the best way to sharpen your message is to step outside your comfort zone a little.

We followed that up with open networking with a twist. It was one of those moments that is hard to explain unless you were in the room, but it kept the energy high and gave everyone a chance to connect in a different way.

Days like this are a good reminder that PROs is not just about passing referrals. It is about building relationships, having fun, and growing together as professionals.

Great food, great people, and a great way to start the day.

Welcome, Michael Garcia

(727) 651-4511

Michael introduced us to an innovative flood prevention system that immediately grabbed everyone’s attention.

His product is a semi permanent flood barrier that deploys in about an hour. Built from rust proof, reinforced aluminum alloy, it is 2.5 times stronger, 2 to 3 times taller, and 3 times longer than many competing systems. What makes it even more impressive is the proprietary water seal technology that actually strengthens as water rises.

In a state like Florida where storms and flooding are not a matter of if but when, this kind of forward thinking protection matters. We are excited to have Michael in the room and look forward to learning more about how he helps protect homes and businesses.

Lynne Knowles – Pruvit
Health and Wellness Supplements

optimizemenow.com

Lynn led us into a fascinating discussion about market acceptance and innovation.

She asked a powerful question: Have you heard of crossing the chasm?

Referencing the concept popularized by Crossing the Chasm by

Geoffrey Moore, she explained the innovation curve:
- Innovators
- Early adopters
- Early majority
- Late majority
- Laggards

The critical moment is crossing the gap between early adopters and the early majority. That is where many products fail.

Protein supplements followed this curve. It took roughly 15 years for protein to cross that chasm and reach mainstream acceptance. Ketones, she shared, are following a similar trajectory.

The big takeaway for all of us was simple but powerful:
Where is your business on the innovation curve?

Are you still serving innovators, or have you positioned yourself for the early majority? Understanding where you sit changes your messaging, your strategy, and your patience.

Hanna Branch – Retamar & Millian, P.A.
Paralegal and Representative
813 200 5894
[email protected]
retamarmillian.com

Hanna walked us through how car insurance actually works in Florida, and it was eye opening for many in the room.

Florida is a no fault state. That means your insurance pays first, regardless of who caused the accident.

Here are the realities she highlighted:

- PIP covers up to 10,000 dollars, and it does not cover 100 percent of expenses
- You must seek medical attention within 14 days
- 10,000 dollars often does not cover everything
- Bodily injury coverage is not required in Florida
- Many drivers are uninsured or underinsured

If you carry uninsured motorist coverage, it also protects you from underinsured drivers. Having higher limits provides real flexibility and protection.

She also reminded us of something most people overlook. Even if there are no injuries, you may have a diminished value claim.

Many people simply fix the car and move on. But if your vehicle has lost value due to the accident, you may be entitled to compensation.

An estimated 10 to 15 percent of drivers do not carry adequate coverage. That is a sobering statistic.

The bigger message was clear. Insurance is not just paperwork. It is strategy. And in Florida, understanding the system matters.

Renee Brown – HealthMarkets Insurance
Life and Health Insurance

[email protected]
nexthealthandmedicare.com

Renee’s story was one of reinvention and purpose.

She moved to Florida in 2014 after spending 50 years in Missouri. She has two boys and nine grandchildren ranging from one to fifteen years old.

Her career path is anything but linear:

- Graduated with a teaching degree
- Loved substitute teaching because of the variety
- Became a nurse
- Took computer programming courses
- Transitioned into insurance

What makes Renee unique is how all those experiences intersect.
Her teaching background helps her educate clients.

Her nursing experience allows her to understand medical needs.
Her programming knowledge helps her navigate systems and technology with ease.

As a broker, she has access to over 100 companies and is licensed in 36 states. That means she is not tied to one carrier. She can search the market to find what truly fits her clients.

But what stood out most was this:

She does not just sell policies. She fights for her clients.

If a claim is denied or processed as out of network, she troubleshoots it. If something does not look right, she digs into it. She also trains new agents and serves as a go to resource for many.

She helps with Medicare, Medicaid, life insurance, health plans, and everything in between.

And when asked why she does it, the answer was simple.

Because she loves people.

And she loves helping them.

What could be better than that?
