As the owner of Pettay Consulting, I usually use this page to share business updates, financial insight, and ways I can support other people.

Today, I am sharing something more personal.

Behind the business, I am also a person who has been navigating a very difficult season. I have tried to handle it privately and responsibly, but I have reached a point where I need to ask for support.

I created a GoFundMe as a request for a leg up while I work to regain solid footing. This is not something I take lightly, and it is not easy for me to share publicly.

If you feel led to contribute or share, I would be deeply grateful. If not, your kindness, encouragement, and continued support of Pettay Consulting still mean more than you know.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, so of course Banjo had to report for Chief Barketing Officer duty. 🐾

Rescue dogs remind me of something I see in small business all the time:

A messy beginning does not mean a bad outcome.

Sometimes things just need patience, structure, consistency, and someone willing to look a little deeper.

That is true for rescue dogs.

And honestly? It is true for your books too.

Messy categories, old cleanup issues, missing documentation, and “I’ll fix it later” transactions do not mean your business is broken.

They mean it needs a better system.

Happy National Rescue Dog Day from Banjo and Pettay Consulting. 💙

Banjo's cleanup tip of the day: When branches fall everywhere... sometimes just grabbing one and breaking it apart (or chewing it!) helps a TON!

See? One piece at a time makes the whole pile way less scary.

Mommy and I got most of it cleared — teamwork makes the dream work!

Same goes for business money stuff: unexpected bills or low profits feel overwhelming... but break it down one step at a time (track spending, make a simple budget plan), and suddenly it's manageable.

Banjo's motto: 'Paws up for tackling messes together!'

Need help breaking down your business mess into easy steps? Message me or book a free chat — I'll help like Banjo helps Mommy. 😊

International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day is celebrated on February 23, encouraging owners to treat their pups with extra biscuits, homemade treats, or special, healthy snacks. It is a day focused on spoiling dogs, supporting shelters, and recognizing the joy pets bring.

Gotta love Banjo! I'm so grateful to have this AMAZING doggy in my life - and YES, he got extra treats 🦴

Oh no... this is WAY more branches than Mommy expected after the weekend wind! 🌿
Banjo here: 'Mommy, this mess is bigger than we thought! How do we even start cleaning this up?'
Yard looks like a disaster, and honestly... sometimes business feels the same way — unexpected stuff piles up, and you're left wondering where to begin.

A lot of businesses — and nonprofits — still code everything into one “Meals” account.

Client meetings, travel meals, office snacks, employee events… they don’t all get treated the same for tax and reporting purposes.

I recently attended a ribbon cutting (Banjo came too 🐾). That’s a perfect example — documentation and category both matter.

When everything is lumped together, it creates cleanup work later and weakens your reporting support.
I help organizations structure meal categories correctly and implement clean coding rules so records are consistent and defensible.

If yours are all sitting in one bucket, message me.

Simple Fix: How to Stop Overspending & Protect Your Profits in 2026 (Follow-Up to Tuesday's Post) 🚀🐶
Last time we talked about last year's surprise spending making profits tiny. Here's the easy way to fix it and get ready for 2026:
Work out a clear budgeting plan.
What that really means:

Look at what you actually spent last year (quick look in QuickBooks or bank statements).
Guess what you'll spend this year (rent, supplies, ads, etc.).
Decide how much profit you want to keep (even if it's small at first).
Set monthly "spend limits" so you don't go over.

It's like giving your business a simple spending allowance—no more surprises!
I help small businesses (and owners like you) do this step-by-step. We make a custom plan that fits your real life, so you feel in control instead of stressed.
Banjo's tip: "Budget now = more treats later!" 🐕
