This one hit me hard because I can relate to it more than I’d like to admit.
Alcohol made me so consumed with surviving, escaping, and getting through the day that I didn’t always realize how many people I was hurting… or how much I was hurting myself.
I wasn’t a bad person. I had a problem that slowly took up more space in my life than I ever intended it to.
It makes me sad knowing that I hurt people, disappointed people, and greatly inconvenienced people who loved and cared about me. Some of those moments I can never take back.
But instead of living in guilt, I’ve chosen to live in gratitude.
I’m grateful that I was given another chance.
I’m grateful that I can show up differently today.
I’m grateful that I can redeem myself through my actions, one day at a time.
And most importantly, I’m grateful to say this with complete certainty:
Alcohol is gone from my life forever.
No more negotiating. No more exceptions. No more romanticizing something that was stealing pieces of my life.
Today, I choose clarity. I choose presence. I choose honesty. I choose freedom.
And if you’re on this journey too, please know this: It’s never too late to become someone your future self will be proud of. 🤍
