Palmdale Playhouse Adds Second Scot Bruce Elvis Tribute Show
7 p.m. performance is sold out; tickets remain available for
newly added matinee on Saturday, May 23

Due to popular demand, the City of Palmdale has added a second performance of Scot Bruce: A Tribute to the King at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th St. East, on Saturday, May 23, at 1 p.m. The previously announced 7 p.m. performance is sold out, but tickets remain available for the newly added matinee.

Tickets are just $2.50 as part of the City’s ongoing America 250 celebration, which honors the 250th anniversary of our nation’s founding.

“The response to this show has been outstanding, and we are excited to add a second performance so more residents can enjoy it,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “As part of Palmdale’s America 250 celebration, this is exactly the kind of event we hoped to offer: affordable, memorable and rooted in music that has helped shape American culture.”

Bruce has an uncanny resemblance to Elvis, a powerhouse voice and an electrifying stage presence that has thrilled audiences across the country. Scot Bruce: A Tribute to the King brings the sound, style and energy of Elvis Presley to life for audiences of all ages.

Whether you grew up memorizing every word of “Hound Dog” or are discovering Elvis Presley’s music for the first time, this show captures the swagger, charisma and musical power that made the King of Rock ’n’ Roll one of history’s most iconic entertainers. Travel through time as Bruce relives Elvis’ early rockabilly hits at Sun Records, through his glittering Vegas era, in a performance celebrating the legacy of an American cultural icon.

“The Palmdale Playhouses continues to draw top quality entertainment, and we’re proud to offer a great day out that doesn’t cost a fortune,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “Scot Bruce brings Elvis’ music to life in a way that connects generations, from longtime fans to those discovering these songs for the first time.”

Palmdale’s Young Voices Fill the Palmdale Playhouse with Songs of America

The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir takes the stage at the Palmdale Playhouse, located at 38334 10th St. East, on May 16 to honor our nation with Americana: Singing the Stories of America, a rousing, heart-filled musical journey through the soul of the United States that will have you humming all the way home.

Performed by talented, local young singers, Americana weaves together beloved folk tunes, powerful spirituals and soaring patriotic anthems into a unified celebration of the American spirit, past and present, as Palmdale celebrates the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“Palmdale is a community that exemplifies and celebrates the best of America,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “When our young people take the stage to honor our heritage through music, it reminds us that our City is founded on the legacy of hard work, creativity and unity. The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir always puts on a fantastic performance, and Americana is the kind of show that brings Palmdale together.”

Two shows are scheduled, a matinee at 2 p.m. and an evening show at 7 p.m. Tickets are $18 for adults and $15 for seniors, students, active-duty military and children 12 and under.

“Presenting a full concert at the Palmdale Playhouse gives our young people a professional venue to perform at the highest level,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “The Antelope Valley Children’s Choir consistently offers high-quality programs that demonstrate the importance of investing in arts education.”

Free Neighborhood Watch Event Brings Games, Giveaways and Good Neighbors to Oasis Park

The City of Palmdale is bringing safety and fun together at a free Neighborhood Watch community event on Tuesday, May 12, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Oasis Park, 3850 E. Ave. S. The celebration is open to residents of all ages, offering the perfect opportunity to connect with your neighbors in a welcoming, family-friendly setting.

“A safe neighborhood is the foundation of everything else that we’re building in Palmdale,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “When the community knows each other and their first responders, everyone becomes stronger and safer together. Palmdale’s series of Neighborhood Watch events creates grassroots connections and is an opportunity for residents to see the potential in a city that puts its people first.”

Attendees can strike a pose in a 360-degree photo booth, bounce around on inflatables, and enjoy music, train rides, face painting, interactive games, a DJ + live music, train rides, face painting, kid-friendly activities and food trucks. Guests can also enjoy free sweet treats while supplies last. Attendees can also enter a raffle for a chance to win one of five Ring cameras. Giveaways are scattered throughout the event and one person will win a Ring camera.

In between the fun, residents can stop by tables staffed by City departments, local partner organizations and first responders to learn about programs available in the community. District 3 Councilmember Laura Bettencourt will also meet her neighbors to hear directly from the community.

“Neighborhood Watch programs are one of the most cost-effective public safety tools available,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “Connecting directly with the City’s Public Safety staff and local law gives residents concrete ways they can strengthen their community.”

Additional Neighborhood Watch events are planned for other council districts later this year. For more information about the program, visit www.CityOfPalmdaleCA.gov/NeighborhoodWatch.
