Free Kaleidoscope Fall Frenzy Brings Two Days of Music, Art and Fall Fun to Palmdale
Oct. 16-17 festival features live music, pyrotechnic drone show and free family activities
A pyrotechnic drone show accompanied by a live orchestra and choir, a Journey tribute concert with larger-than-life visuals and free roller skating are among the highlights of the award-winning Kaleidoscope Fall Frenzy, returning Oct. 16-17, to the Palmdale Amphitheater, 2723 Rancho Vista Blvd. Admission and parking are free.
The festival runs from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, bringing together live music, local artists, fall activities and two evening performances celebrating America’s 250th anniversary.
“We want families to come out, spend time together and enjoy an incredible weekend right here in Palmdale,” said Mayor Eric Ohlsen. “Friday’s Journey Through the USA brings the Antelope Valley a first-of-its-kind experience, pairing iconic music with life-size projected imagery of American landmarks. With free admission, two stages of live entertainment, skating and hands-on art, there are so many reasons to join us.”
Friday’s “Journey Through the USA” brings American landmarks to life with projected imagery synchronized to iconic music. Journey USA will perform the band’s blockbuster hits as immersive visuals take visitors on a journey across America, bringing iconic landmarks to life. Decades Cover Band opens the evening’s main-stage entertainment at 6:30 p.m. Guests can also enjoy the glow roller rink, browse vendors, explore the boutique pumpkin patch and create fall crafts.
Saturday at 8 p.m., a pyrotechnic drone show will light up the sky alongside a celebration of American music performed live by West Coast Classical and the AV Children’s Choir. Kaleidoscope’s drone show recently earned a Gold award from the International Festivals and Events Association in the Best Event in an Event category. The show takes place Saturday only, following a day of music, dance and activities throughout the festival. Decades Cover Band takes the main stage at 6 p.m.
“Watching the drone show while an orchestra and children’s choir perform live will be a special way to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary,” said Mayor Pro Tem Austin Bishop. “Come early and make a day of it. There’s plenty to discover before the evening’s show, from local art and music to activities you can enjoy with your kids.”
Families will find plenty to explore both days, including free roller skating with skates and helmets provided, a pumpkin patch with $5 large pumpkins and seasonal photo opportunities. Saturday’s KaleidoKreations activities include pumpkin painting and free instructor-led art and clay classes. Guests can also add their own likeness to the evolving “We Are Palmdale” community mural.
New this year, the Kaleidoscope Art District invites visitors to meet local professional artists, shop for original work and watch live art demonstrations. Acoustic music, a roaming violinist, a living fountain and a w**e bar add to the experience. The new Cozy Corner offers children a welcoming place to take a break, with comfortable seating, a children’s magician and roaming bubbles on Saturday.
Sports fans won’t have to choose between catching the game and a family outing. The Sports Lounge & B**r Garden offers live sports on big screens — including the Major League Baseball National League Championships — and cold b**r on tap, so guests can settle in and cheer on their teams while enjoying the festival. Food, drinks and shopping are available throughout the event.
Admission is subject to venue capacity, and guests are encouraged to arrive early. Visitors may bring blankets or folding lawn chairs for the performances. Food, drinks and merchandise are available for purchase.
