Got the little greenhouse moved over inline with the larger greenhouse. I made the plans for the foundation for the bigger greenhouse but decided that getting plants in the ground first was more important. I'll gather the materials over the summer and either complete it at the end of the season or next spring. But I've got so much new garden space to grow this year. Very happy with how it's going.

Today's urban regenerative permaculture food forest garden adventure. Continued from were I left off yesterday. Finished building the row for the beets it's 24" to 36" wide. Along with putting up fencing to keep the dogs πŸ• out. I spent 4 or 5 hours working just in the raspberry pach. This patch is 15 years old and needed some serious tlc. I cleared all the dead canes. Then found the support line and reattached it to the T post's. After getting the support line secured I tied up all this year's fruiting canes. This took forever and my fingers are sore but I want every berry this year. Had to add some milk crates to the berry areas to keep the dogs from breaking this year's new growth. Also planted some broccoli and nagoon berry’s in the asparagus patch. The backyard food forest is coming along nicely. Still have to plant the potatoes in the big black pot's.

Yesterday was super 🌞 for my soil building adventure ✨️This year's vegetabls are broccoli πŸ₯¦ & beet's. Roughly 600 beets 🫜 will fit in the center row. The soil is a hugelkultur lasagna method. Beginning with aged woodchips then πŸ‡ manure 5-7-4, πŸƒ leafs, πŸ‡ manure, then 3 layers of amended fluffy top soil to a height of 20"! Mixed into each layer is some top soil then inoculated biochar, bioceramic powder, worm πŸͺ± πŸ’© 1-1-1, vegetable fertilizer 4-4-4, langbienite 0-0-22, bone meal 3-15-0, powdered rock basalt, mineral mixture, greensand and bentonite clay. With a initial watering of rainwater & EM-1microbiology, molasses, more πŸͺ± p**p, fish emulsion 5-1-1, humic acid, & seaweed extract to feed the biology. Tons of πŸ–hand πŸ’ͺwork of each layer. Working in the amendments and not just packing it ontop! Each layer was worked in to allow for the amendments and materials to be mixed in and remain fluffy. Aeration ( fluffy ) is important to roots and microbiology. The entire area will be capped with 6 inches of πŸƒ πŸ‚ mulch to keep the weeds down. In 2 weeks the vegetable starts will be ready to plant into the rows. Its still 36Β° to 40Β° at night πŸŒ™ so another 2 week should get up to 47Β° to 50Β°.

Look at all those bags of leafs piles of them!! Gathering my first load of 6 or more trips to get enough leafs πŸƒ to build the new garden area. They are from the Anchor Gardens garden stuff donation station. Very thankful for access to materials to build healthy soil in the urban environment. A lil volunteer time around the site to give back to the project is all they ask.

This year's big project is to raise the greenhouse up 18" on a cinder block foundation. Then build out the soil for lots of yummy vegetables. I'll use a lasagna method starting with woodchips and a truck load of leaf πŸƒ as the base. Roughly 35' x 20' of new garden space.
