Welcome to the Palmyra Fire Rescue page! Palmyra Fire Rescue has been in service since 1977.

We provide fire & EMS services for the Village and Town of Palmyra with part of the Kettle Moraine State Forest.

Update Highway 59 was closed completely for a short period of time, but as of 1158 is now open thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding

🚨 PALMYRA TRAFFIC ALERT 🚨

Highway 59 is reduced to one lane from Garfield Street to the edge of town, near industrial due to a downed power line.

Emergency crews are working in the area, and We Energies is en route.

Please slow down, use caution, and follow directions from emergency personnel. Stay clear of the downed line.

🚨 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 🚨

October 5, 2026

VILLAGE OF PALMYRA DPW EMPLOYEE STRUCK BY VEHICLE

At approximately 10:16 a.m. on Monday, October 5, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications dispatched Palmyra Public Safety to the intersection of West Main and Fourth Streets for a report of a person lying in the roadway.

Police and Fire/EMS Division first responders arrived on scene within one minute of being dispatched and determined that a Village of Palmyra Department of Public Works employee had been struck by a motor vehicle while preparing to paint lines in the intersection. Multiple DPW employees in bright green reflective clothing and two department vehicles were in the immediate area.

The driver remained at the scene, cooperated with officers, and reported seeing the workers before the collision.

The injured employee was alert, oriented, and answering questions before being transported by ambulance to Aurora Summit for evaluation. The Palmyra Police Division issued a citation to the driver, and the crash investigation remains open.

🚧 HELP KEEP OUR ROADWAY WORKERS SAFE

With ongoing roadwork throughout the Village and surrounding region, please:

⚠️ Slow down when approaching work areas.
Stay attentive and watch for workers.
🚦 Follow traffic directions.
Give crews adequate space to work safely.

The Palmyra Police Division will continue increased traffic enforcement efforts to help protect roadway workers, families, and children throughout our community.

🎄 HOLIDAY HELPING HANDS IS BACK! 🎁❤️

Palmyra Public Safety is proud to be a part of Holiday Helping Hands, working alongside our neighboring organizations to help local families have a brighter holiday season!

You’ll now find our RED TOY BARREL in the lobby of the Palmyra Public Safety Building!

We are collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. If you’re able to help, simply stop by and drop a toy into the barrel. Every donation, big or small, helps make Christmas a little more special for a child right here in our area.

Holiday Helping Hands also provides families with Thanksgiving and Christmas meals, personal care items, household necessities, winter clothing, and Christmas gifts—and Santa himself may even help with some special deliveries! 🎅🚒🚓

Our community has always been incredibly generous when someone needs a helping hand, and we’re excited to see that generosity fill this barrel!

🌭🚒 THANK YOU, PALMYRA! 🚑🚓🌭

What an AMAZING day at Hotdogs & Heroes! We want to give a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out, spent the day with us, and helped make this year’s event such a huge success! Seeing so many families, friends, and members of our community come together made all the work that went into this event completely worth it.

We also want to give a very special thank you to some incredible local businesses who helped make the day possible:

Today’s the day!!! It’s a beautiful day to spend some fun with the family so come on down to palmyra village park from noon to 4pm for some hotdogs and family fun!

Today September 12th, Palmyra Fire Rescue hosted a Big Water Movement Training alongside several of our mutual aid partners!

The training was led by Assistant Chief Bill Flood of the Sullivan Fire Department, who brings a great deal of experience with large-scale water movement operations, both through training and real-world emergency incidents.

In rural firefighting operations, establishing and maintaining an adequate water supply is a critical part of a successful fireground operation. Without a municipal water system or nearby hydrants, crews must be prepared to move large amounts of water efficiently using tankers/tenders, portable tanks, engines, and water shuttle operations.

Crews started with the basics—one engine and one portable tank on the ground—and progressively expanded the operation into a large-scale water supply system. By the end of the training, crews were operating multiple portable tanks, multiple engines, and a water shuttle while flowing approximately 1,500–2,500 gallons per minute (GPM).

Training like this not only improves our individual skills but also strengthens the working relationships between the departments we rely on during major incidents. When the real call comes in, knowing how to work together safely and efficiently can make all the difference.

Thank you to Assistant Chief Flood for sharing his knowledge and experience, and thank you to everyone who dedicated their Saturday to training and continuing to improve.

🇺🇸 September 11, 2001 — Never Forget 🇺🇸

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, Palmyra Public Safety pauses to remember the 2,977 lives lost on a day that forever changed our nation.

That morning unfolded in a matter of just 102 minutes:

🕗 8:46 AM — American Airlines Flight 11 struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.

🕘 9:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower.

🕘 9:37 AM — American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon.

🕙 9:59 AM — The South Tower collapsed.

🕙 10:03 AM — United Airlines Flight 93 crashed near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after passengers and crew courageously fought back.

🕥 10:28 AM — The North Tower collapsed.

Among those lost were 343 FDNY firefighters, 23 NYPD officers, 37 Port Authority Police officers, and countless other first responders and civilians who ran toward danger to help people they had never met.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to honor their courage, their sacrifice, and the families who carry their memory. We also remember the first responders, recovery workers, survivors, and others who have suffered and lost their lives from illnesses related to their service at Ground Zero.

We remember the lives lost.
We remember the heroes who ran in.
We remember the courage of Flight 93.
We remember the unity that followed.
