Year Two: A fresh new look!

Every week we meet to talk about work. Every week we take a moment to really reflect on how grateful we are for the work we love and the most unique mix of clients. Over the course of the last year alone, we have not only worked with Tech start-ups, but also a diverse mix of companies focused across Pharma, Health, Wellness, Retail, Real Estate, Self Driving Cars, VC’s, and yes.. even Cannabis.

Just like a lot of you that are self employed, we are always so surprised that we can continue to do the work we love and pay our bills! To celebrate our two years in business we asked our friend Stephen Griffin to help refresh our online look. We needed a serious makeover!!

We have worked with so many amazing companies in the last two years…Headspace, Compass, Qventus, Bloom Farms, Tile, Addepar, GGVC, Refactor Capital, CZI, Facebook, drive.ai, Ultragenyx to name a few. How do we choose who we work with? It is simple really. We work with companies whose mission we admire and for people we would want to hang out with. We don’t accept gigs just for the money or for the sexy company name.

We search for positive energy and for those that are willing to do some personal hard work. We like to share with others what we have learned and not keep it locked up. We have open sourced so much of our work to others because it feels good to do that!

Oxegen Consulting LLC donates a % of its profits to support LGBTQ organizations. This year we are supporting the work of the Transgender Law Center. The Transgender Law Center is the largest national trans-led organization that focuses on keeping transgender and gender non-conforming people "alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation."

She's a geek and we love it!!!

This week, in honor of Pride Month, we are featuring posts on our tech role models from the LGBTQ community.

Labeling yourself a “geek” is now a trendy thing to do and not many have the cred to back up that title! This is not the case for self-professed geek, Sara Sperling who holds degrees from Santa Clara University, Stanford University, and the University of California Irvine. Sara, has had a long and illustrious career with some of Silicon Valley’s tech giants such as Snapchat and Facebook, making sure their companies are talented, diverse, and inclusive. One of the things we celebrate as a company is our diversity. We are a q***r and female co-owned company. As a way to celebrate the milestone of one year together, doing the work that feeds our souls, we have decided to make a donation to the Edie Windsor Coding Scholarship in honor of each of our clients. We chose this scholarship because it helps women and specifically LGBTQ and gender non conforming women to get into tech bootcamps. Congratulations to Nick Pietre & his research team at CCL for this brand new hypothesis on developing leaders in Silicon Valley. This research captures so much of the essence of what the valley requires of its leaders, and how we can start to re-think some of the existing approaches we use to grow & retain leaders. Today we celebrated one year of Oxegen Consulting. ( yes the picture looks like we got married). We are so lucky to be doing what we love everyday with people who we admire so much.

Here are the three things we learned this year 1) Work with people we love. Life is too short not to. 2) Only work with clients and companies that inspire us. 3) Life is not a rehearsal. Do what you want to now! So Stu is going to write more and Sara is going to hop in an RV and see some nature!
