We were asked a few weeks ago by a client for whom we provide intermittent Executive Protection service, what keeps us motivated to do what we do. The answer was simple. We remember the wins.
Today is the third anniversary of one of those wins.
Around 9:00 in the morning on September 9, 2018 we received a call from Paul Coley, Founder of Scent Evidence K9. We have worked with Paul and his team on numerous missing person cases and Executive Protection assignments. That morning, Paul was called by FSU Police and Leon County Florida Sheriff's Office to assist in the search for a FSU student who had been missing for over two days. He asked if we would be part of his team - all specialists experienced in Integrated Search Strategies. Paul didn't have to ask twice. We packed up and were rolling before 10:00 and linked up with David Merrick and his amazing team from FSUEMHS/CDRP who would provide drone support for the mission. Without going into all the details here of how we were able to do what we did, let's just say, this integrated team with various, very specific skill sets, found that student less than four hours later. He was dehydrated and scratched up beyond belief, but very much alive. The final cherry on top came when we all were packing up our gear to leave. The student's mother and sister drove by and the sister said, "Thank you for finding my brother". It's amazing how a simple "thank you" can mean so very much.
Like everyone, we have those days when we ask why we keep doing what we're doing. Then, we remember the wins.
