All Florida homeowners whose primary residence is a site-built, single-family, detached home are eligible to participate. The MSFH Program provides homeowners with a FREE Wind Mitigation Inspection (a $150 value) to evaluate the current strength of their home against wind damage and guide them on what improvements could be made to increase that strength and potentially reduce their home insurance premiums. The Program also provides up to $10,000 in grant funds to assist with the cost of the improvements.

A petition was filed in Leon County circuit court, appointing the DFS as the receiver for Southern Fidelity Insurance Company. All Southern Fidelity policies will cancel on July 15, 2022, at 12:01 a.m., with claim filing deadlines on June 15, 2023. The consent order is lengthy. FAIA has received multiple inquiries regarding the lack of renewal offers or statutorily-required nonrenewal notices from Southern Fidelity Insurance Company before placing the carrier into liquidation. Most recently, Citizens has issued an agent communication providing guidance on the new business process for former Southern Fidelity policyholders.
