Benefits of Using a Planner

A lot of people have always had problems with keeping with their schedule and it seems like there’s just not enough time throughout the day? If this is the case, it is most likely due to ineffective time management. This occurs when you simply rush from one task to another without looking at the big picture. You can use a planner to organize tasks, meetings, events, and appointments, so you know what to prepare for. You can also use a planner to write down short term and long term goals for this New Year. Using a planner also ensures that you do not run short on time. To ensure that you stay on schedule, assign clear deadlines and due dates to each task.

Planners for Work or Business
It is crucial to keep your life organised when you have a hectic schedule. Few individuals have the mental ability to cope with each responsibility your work or business entails. For example, a tidy and well-organized office makes it easier to find things and work. This is also true for your schedules and planning methods.

Planning and organizing your work could help you leave a positive impression on colleagues, bosses, and clientele. In addition, you will gain credibility for yourself and your business if you retain skillful organizational abilities. You may even get more opportunities in the future if your skills demonstrate how efficient and trustworthy you are.

Physical or Digital Planner?

There have been many types of planners over the years - rather it’s the standard Franklin Covey day planner that you can pick up from any large big box retailer, or more niche products like the Daily Manifest from Visualize Value.

This post isn’t necessarily concerned with choosing a digital or paper planner, really that’s a personal preference. However, compared to a digital planner wherein you can dictate or type in your daily tasks, or future goals, writing them down in a planner requires active engagement with the information. This process can help improve focus and memory retention, making it easier to remember important details and stay on track.

Benefits of Using a Planner

It Helps With Time Management

Do you find that there is never enough time for everything? If so, it is probably because you are not scheduling your time effectively. This happens when you just run constantly, going from one thing to the next, without really thinking about everything as a whole. Using a planner allows you to schedule each event, appointment, errand, and task, so that you know what to expect and don’t run out of time. Set specific due dates and deadlines for everything to help you stay on track, and have extra time left for yourself and your family.

You Can Improve Your Productivity

This is important for your personal and professional life. While many people think of productivity as it relates to their job, you also want to be productive at home. This might include getting cleaning and home organization done, or working on projects you keep putting it off. Regardless of what it is, planners help you to stay on track with each individual task you need to complete, and encourages you to move on to the next one effectively and efficiently.

They Provide Excellent Stress Relief

Stress has many forms, but a common denominator is the feeling of being overwhelmed. You are often stressed due to a hectic schedule, having too many demands, or just putting too much on your plate. Outside influences also affect your stress level, but think about how different it could be when you actually have time for everything and are able to seamlessly go from one responsibility to the next without having to worry about missing something, being late, or having to back out at the last minute. You can also use your planner to schedule self-care activities.

There Are a Multitude of Health Benefits

As you might imagine, planners help you stay healthy in a wide range of ways. It helps your physical health by helping you track things like diet and exercise, you can schedule regular doctor and dentist appointments, and make sure you are getting enough fresh air and vitamin D by scheduling days spent outdoors. You get mental health benefits by reducing stress and anxiety, and even having journaling pages for when you just need a good brain dump.

More Time for Creative Activities

Another benefit of using a planner is that because you are sticking to a schedule for all the mandatory responsibilities, it leaves a little free time for your artistic endeavors, whether that means working on a hobby or trying something new. And some people use planners as a creative activity in and of itself, by adding stickers, pictures, and other decorative items.

A Place for Records

A final way of using a planner is keeping track of tasks, appointments, and notes. For example, sometimes you can’t make the dogs’ next grooming appointment when you pick them up because there is so much barking and commotion. If you forget when their last appointment was, you can flip back a few months in my planner and see when they’re due for a trim. Ditto for keeping track of when you last saw a specific friend or family member. Ask anyone who uses a planner—this comes in handy!

Short Term Health Effects of Wildfire Smoke Exposure

According to WHO, a wildfire is an unplanned fire that burns in a natural area such as a forest, grassland, or prairie. Wildfires are often caused by human activity or a natural phenomenon such as lightning, and they can happen at any time or anywhere. In 50% of wildfires recorded, it is not known how they started.

Fire experts weighed in on the 2023 U.S. wildfire forecast from Accuweather meteorologists which predict that in California, 400,000 to 1 million acres will burn. That puts the state at average or slightly above average for fire danger later in the summer.

Wildfire smoke can pose risks to your health. This smoke can hurt your eyes, irritate your respiratory system, and worsen chronic heart and lung diseases.

People who have lung diseases, older adults, children, and expectant mothers are at greatest risk from wildfire smoke. The most effective way to protect yourself and your loved ones during wildfire emergencies is to stay indoors and limit your time outdoors when there is smoke in the air. Respirators can also help protect your lungs from smoke or ash.

Health Effects Attributed to Wildfire Smoke Exposure

Short-term exposures (i.e., over a few days)

Irritation of the eyes and respiratory tract

Respiratory symptoms
Coughing
Phlegm
Wheezing
Difficulty breathing

Respiratory effects
Bronchitis
Reduced lung function
Increased risk of asthma exacerbation and aggravation of other lung diseases
Increased risk of emergency room visits and hospital admissions

Cardiovascular effects
Heart failure
Heart attack
Stroke
Increased risk of emergency room visits and hospital admissions
Increased risk of premature death

Cumulative short-term exposures (i.e., over multiple days up to a few weeks)
Reduction in lung function*

The best way to minimize the health effects of Wildfire Smoke Exposure is to wear a mask or respirator. When choosing the right respirator, make sure to look for respirators that have been tested and approved by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). It should have 'NIOSH' and either 'N95' or 'P100' printed on it.

Federal One provides FDA and NIOSH approved respirators. We are also offering discounted pricing on masks, gloves, and other medical supplies.

The Holiday Tripledemic

It's holiday season again! There’s lots to love about the holiday season from exciting activities, events and gathering with your loved ones. However, with the holidays also comes the arrival of colds, flu and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), also known as the Viral Trifecta, or as described by CDC as 'tripledemic'.

Based on a [Keiser Family Foundation survey](https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19/press-release/nearly-four-in-ten-households-were-sick-with-covid-19-the-flu-or-rsv-recently-even-as-most-people-say-they-arent-too-worried-about-getting-seriously-ill/) ,they found that 40% of people said their households were affected by this winter’s triple threat of viruses, with someone getting sick with the flu, COVID-19, or RSV.

**Action Plan Against the Viral Trifecta**

Here's an action plan to help you stay healthy and also prevent the spread of these viruses to your loved ones:

**1. Get Vaccinated. Prevention is the key.**

As per [CDC](https://www.cdc.gov/respiratory-viruses/whats-new/stay-healthy-during-holidays.html), this is the first year that there are vaccines to protect against all three of these viruses. These vaccines have been shown to prevent severe disease and can be lifesaving. They can also help ensure you are able to enjoy valuable time with loved ones. CDC also advises the following steps specially for individuals with extreme age:

* Everyone ages 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine and updated COVID-19 vaccination this fall.
* CDC recommends an RSV immunization for some groups at higher risk for severe RSV illness.
* Adults ages 60 and older: talk to your healthcare provider to see if RSV vaccination is right for you.
* Parents: CDC recommends using one of these two tools to protect your baby – an RSV vaccine given during weeks 32-36 of pregnancy or an RSV preventive antibody given to infants. The RSV preventive antibody is also recommended for some older babies at higher risk for severe RSV disease.

**2. Take action to stop respiratory viruses from spoiling holiday cheer.**

* If you are sick, stay home to avoid putting others at risk.
* Cover coughs and sneezes when around others to help protect them.
* Stay away from others who are sick, if possible.
* Masks can help reduce the spread of respiratory viruses.
* Handwashing often with soap removes most germs, including respiratory viruses, from your hands.
* If handwashing is not possible, use Sanitizing Wipes for soft or porous surfaces (ie hands), and Disinfecting wipes for hard surfaces/non porous.
* Viral particles in the air spread between people more easily indoors than outdoors. Any way you can improve air quality, such as opening windows or using air purifiers, can help reduce the amount of virus you are exposed to.

**3. If you do feel sick, there are tests and treatments.** If you have signs or symptoms of a respiratory virus, like a cough, runny nose, or fever, tests can help figure out which illness you have. These tests will help determine what medications or treatments you might need to take.

In line with this, [Federal One Supplies](https://www.federalonesupplies-gsa.com/) is running a promotion to help stop the spread of the tripledemic especially these holiday season. The following items are on sale for up to 30% discount:

ESSENTIAL OFFICE SUPPLIES

Office supplies help us in making our tasks in the office easier and faster. Making a checklist of the most commonly used office supplies will not only help you see what is needed but also helps in budgeting the limited funds we have for the office. Make sure to stock up on these essential office supplies every month to ensure hassle-free office operations. Here's the top 21 essential office supplies monthly checklist:

1. Writing Tools
Pens, Markers, Highlighters, Pencils, Sharpeners and Erasers
That covers your scribbling needs. Take notes, cancel them, highlight or erase them, pens and pencils are your best friends at the workplace. Markers are the go-to tools for scrawling on rough surfaces and writing boards. For correcting and forgetting notes, nothing works likes an eraser.

2. Grouping Tools
Stapler, Staples, Stapler Remover, Rubber Bands and Paper Clips
Grouping similar pages are frequent workplace tasks. Staplers, paper clips and rubber bands all serve the same purpose. Depends on how well and for how long you want those pages to stick together. Ungroup them with a staple remover if pinned.

3. Paper Shredder
Mostly used to destroy sensitive office documents, a shredder is a handy machine to get rid of waste paper. Unless you mean to hide behind them, a tall pile of useless pages is best fed to it. Keeps the desk clean and the trash bin full.

4. Computers – Desktop And Laptops
A no-brainer, this one. For working alone or teaming up, you can’t shut your eyes to computers. They take the manual out of labor and help streamline operations. Laptops are useful when you visit clients or work from your home office frequently.

5. External Storage – HDD, USB
It is well known how internal storage of a computer system falls short. Documents, PPTs, and images keep piling up. Plus, you need backup. Hence investing in external storage devices makes sense. They are easily connected to many other devices and swiftly transfer data.

6. Printers (includes Toners and Inks)
Dozens of pages get printed every day. And with time, printers have evolved. From black and white to colored, some printing machines even come with scanning and copying features and function wirelessly.

7. Planner
This is a must-have for any office. Keep track of all work-related deadlines, to-do lists and appointments. You cannot afford to run behind the schedule at work and there’s nothing like a professional planner to help you stay on top of your game.

8. Files and Folders
What would the world do without files and folders? Not just for safety, these are needed to organize and store important documents neatly. Files and folders go to the filing cabinet or shelves and help you de-clutter. They are easy to carry or pass around.

9. Cardboard Boxes
There’s no way you can walk past cardboard boxes and say no to it. Sturdy cartons are hard to find. They are useful storage boxes that can hold a lot of material and are easy to carry. One of these beside your desk can potentially carry your entire workplace possessions.

10. Envelopes
Envelopes do more than secure the contents. Professionally printed envelopes create a good impression in the minds of your clients and associates. They are heavily used for business correspondence even in the paperless digital age.

11. Calendar
An indispensable visual addition to your office, a printed calendar is usually placed on your desk or inside your drawer. Apart from the everyday reminders you can set on it, you can also give it away as a useful promotional gift. Of course, such a thing will have your brand name and logo on it.

12. Phone Systems
Every office has them in every department. Traditional landlines enable everyone to fulfill office communication needs without having to use an external phone network. This helps to get work done fast and accurately.

13. Glue and Tape
There are hundred reasons why glue and tape are office essentials, the least of which is sticking things together. From sealing envelops to pasting labels, work can slow down when these supplies are running low.

14. White board
A conference room with a missing white board? This is the stuff of nightmares. Investing in white boards is a useful idea if meetings are meant to be successful. They are generally used for drawing charts, diagrams, graphs or recording the highlights of the conference.

15. Scissors
Cut paper to size and open small boxes with a pair of sharp scissors. It is also used to open envelops, cut labels, tapes, and images.

16. Stamps
Stamps make official communication, official. What is a business mail without the stamp of authenticity? Stamps show approval and those with stock messages like ‘received’ or ‘paid’ bring clarity to transactions.

17. Desk organizer
Too much clutter to handle? And it is just getting getting worse? Time for a desk organizer. They help you save space and keep useless stuff away. You are still saving the important things like pens, markers and paper at your fingertips but the surface looks tidier. You don’t have to waste every waking minute searching for regular stuff.

18. Water cooler and cups
Like coffee machines, water coolers serve both business and pleasure. A thoughtful addition to any office space, these are the hubs of innovation as well as gossip.

19. Sticky Notes
One for quick, visual notification, a sticky note saves both space and time. Even if you make notes in your daily planner, sticky notes right before your keep the important things always within eyesight.

20. First-aid supplies
Any responsible workplace includes basic first-aid supplies in its budget. Tissue boxes are pretty handy when someone has a minor allergy or you want to wipe stains off your desk.

21. Cleaning, Janitorial/Sanitation Supplies
Disinfecting Wipes, Disinfectant Sprays, Hand Sanitizers, Disposable Gloves, Coveralls, Etc...
In addition to basic office supplies, we need to consider the cleanliness and sanitation of the office especially with the Covid situation going on. We need to be vigilant in protecting the office employees.

We are also offering discounted pricing on other office and janitorial supplies. Please feel free to contact our knowledgeable and friendly Account Managers.
