When you hear from God about your purpose, you don’t have to feel guilty saying NO to things that pull you away from it.

Learning to say NO is difficult. Especially if you’re a people pleaser and eat up validation from superiors 😅

Get some support in evaluating huge commitments because the last thing you want to do is say YES to opportunities that make you say NO to purpose.

Working hard to make it easy.

Want your ministry to be a mess?

Super easy. Don’t do anything. Settle for status quo. Pretend issues don’t exist. Dismiss questions and deflect challenges for change. Never learn or test new org/leadership methods. DON’T FOLLOW THROUGH ON CHANGE.

Want your ministry to be simple and streamlined?

Be humble. Invite feedback. Put some elbow grease and attention into enhancing your processes. Demolish taboos. Face the fact that YOU might be the problem Lol FOLLOW THROUGH ON CHANGE.

It’s not easy to make things simple and enjoyable for those in your ministry but gosh dang it it’s rewarding.

When scripture says do all things unto the Lord, does that not also include how you steward your ministry?

Say AMEN 🔫👮‍♂️

Obligations in life exist regardless if we’re inspired to show up right? Here’s a few:

Parenting
Marriage
Work
Eating

Biblical obligations to faith exist as well and everyone has their own duty to respond to them. But should that stop ministries from helping people along with commitment via inspiration?

We’ve prob all heard at least one of these:

You need to just worship

You need to show up to church more

You should be serving

Yeah, ok. Those are givens. Why not sprinkle in a little inspiration so those obligations can turn into opportunities?

Why not pour into your worship team development so it’s a magical experience that’s so compelling people can’t help but worship?

Why not examine your services for actual value? If you weren’t the preacher/leader/family member of the preacher would you show up? Just because someone puts a “best burgers in town” sign on their restaurant doesn’t make it so.

Why not remove all micro-management, taboo, process ambiguity and instead equip, celebrate, and empower volunteers so they can have the run way they need to fly?

Adopting the fully committed Christian lifestyle is no easy task.

So why not work to inspire people to do so?

I agree with everything you just said Lol

First of all, Yes-Men have their place in any organization. Will go into pros and cons in later post.

Secondly, check out this quote by William Wrigley the founder of Wrigley Chewing Gum:

“When two people always agree, one of them is unnecessary.”

I think this sums up the point Lol

This isn’t to knock Yes-Men or to encourage people to disrupt church flow with non-stop suspicion and dishonor Lol Again, Yes-Men have a purpose but probably aren’t best suited for counsel.

The biggest thing I’ve seen is the effect Yes-Men have on groupthink. Groupthink is where everyone rallies on an idea, suspending critical thinking for the sake of the group. Yes-Men have the tendency to acquiesce and not ask questions to flatter, gain influence, or avoid conflict.

That’s probably why organizations usually hire from without, to get perspective and input greater than the status quo.

Are ya winning son?

Although ministry is not about numbers, utilizing metrics can help us achieve verifiable impact.

Think about the parable of the talents.

Were quantifiable numbers not used by the servants? Wasn’t the master concerned about interest/numbers?

The question we should be asking is not “are we making impact” but how do we know we’re making impact?

Data driven insight can support your ministry operation decisions, funding, and focus by revealing what is working and what is not.

Here’s a short list of possible metrics to put in place to track trends, spikes, and projections:

Attendance (In and out)
Giving
Social- Content response
Growth track attendees
Leadership development
Volunteer (Average, in, and out)

Just like the parable of the talents, the numbers you produce will tell a story, void of excuse.
