Bourbon County’s IRON HONOR took second, just a length short, in the 2026 for breeders Pat Freeny and Mike Freeny of Dunquin Farm and Shawhan Place’s THE HELL WE DID was seventh. Apply these words of Crupper Bloodstock to all our Bourbon County horses… “Yesterday may not have ended with the result we all hoped for, but we could not be more proud of Crupper. To compete on racing’s biggest stage is something special, and this horse gave us everything he had.” NOW you know why

The fourth horse in the this year is the 9 to 2 Morning Line Favorite (drum roll please)....IRON HONOR. He was bred by beloved Bourbon Countians Pat Freeny and Mike Freeny and raised on their Dunquin Farm. Sadly Pat passed away in October of 's yearling year and Mike followed her in November 2025. We daresay a whole lotta Bourbon County will be watching this year's race!

This is not your typical edition of the Preakness Stakes (G1). While the 2020 race, which was contested in October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was unprecedented, the May 16 renewal has a number of unique elements tied to it.

The third horse in this year's is CRUPPER, named for Keith Crupper, manager of (now known as Crupper Bloodstock) where the c**t was born and raised. Here's his story:

Trainer Donnie K. Von Hemel said that he confirmed the Preakness Stakes (G1) commitment for Junior Alvarado to ride Crupper in the May 16 middle jewel of the Triple Crown being held this year at Laurel Park.
