Part 2 of 2
The 2026 Missouri State Fair was one another one for the books with lots of great results! We took a total of 16 head and 15 placed in the top 6 of their class. In total there was ~134 head of Katahdins exhibited (which I believe is the largest open show to date).
I would certainly like to thank my whole family for assisting on show night as well as Jared DeHaan and Jared Frieze for stepping in to help show in many classes.
We were honored to have raised both the Grand and Reserve Champion Rams! We also showed the Reserve Senior Champion Ewe.

What a great weekend at the 2026 KHSI Expo in Cookeville, TN! Started out the weekend dropping down to Southeast MO to pick up Elizabeth Kiefer and her consignment. We managed to navigate Cairo, IL (IYKYK😂) and Nashville with ease!

With a record number of attendees this year, it was awesome catching up with old friends and meeting several new breeders getting started in the Katahdin breed.

I also had the opportunity to present a session on livestock pictures and social media during one of the evening programs. It was very well attended, and I appreciate everyone who came out! Also got to meet Dr. Jennifer Hatcher from the TV Show: Hatcher Family Dairy!

We exhibited seven head and were fortunate enough to place one ewe in the Top 10!
A huge thank you to all of our buyers:
• Mike Jones (GA) purchased our high-selling ewe, FRA 9668, for $1,500.
• Kevin and Toni Beatty (MO) purchased the final two Dark Knight daughters we'll ever offer at public auction for $1,400and $1,300.
• Ross Roegner (AL) added Lots 31 and 33 to his flock.
• Tara Lytle (TN) purchased Lot 30.
• Tommy Hobbs (IN) selected our only ram entry for $900.

We sincerely appreciate your confidence in our program and look forward to seeing how these sheep perform in your flocks!

While working through the sale lots and helping picture several of the Top 10 Rams and Ewes, one March ram really caught my attention. He was consigned by Joe Chestnut, and after getting him out on the backdrop for photos, I liked him even more. C3J White 31 combines a tremendous build with an eye-catching color pattern. After talking with Silas Gingerich, we decided to partner on him.

He is now residing here in Missouri where we'll continue growing him out, with plans to potentially show him next year as a yearling. He doesn't have an official name yet, so suggestions are welcome! His sire is RIV 1083 Silver Eagle (a Silver Creek son), and his dam is a Poynter ewe that sold through the Ohio Showcase a few years ago.

I'd also like to thank Silas Gingerich for allowing us to purchase STU L198, a FRA 5667 "Social Distance" son out of the proven Badger donor ewe STU I644, who was an outstanding producer for the Fruechte family. STU L198 was a standout prospect at the Midwest Stud Ram Sale as a fall ram lamb two years ago. He's already turned out with a group of ewes for January lambs, and we're excited to see how he follows in his sire's footsteps.

It has been a whirlwind of two weeks of shows and sales! We couldn't be more humbled by the support of those that purchased, bid or just stopped by the pens to talk sheep!

While we got lucky with some cooler weather on show and sale day in Sedalia, the sale was absolutely on fire!! Katahdins set the tone for the day and if you stayed around to watch other breeds, you know the momentum just kept building!

My hats off to the team at Willoughby Sales! Dan, Carol, Justin, Erin, Sadie Rowland McClung and others, thanks for an amazing week of shows and sales. You truly took on the task of bringing a spark back to the Midwest Stud Ram Sale to heart and we can't THANK YOU enough! The vibe and buzz all week long was felt from not only myself, but other consignors and buyers as well. Thanks for putting on a first class event! We can't wait to be back next year!

As always we certainly enjoy getting to be around our fellow breeders and consignors from across the U.S. We also couldn't have done this without our chore help back home! (Ethan McNeill and Maddison Breid). On show day we were missing the right hand showman Aly Francis, but would like to say a huge Thank You to Mason Fruechte, Justin Fruechte, Lily Fruechte, Lane Falch, Shaylee Maddox Ashlyn Maddox, JJ Kelly Maddox, Cody Aslin, Jaime Aslin and Troy Doty for always willing to jump in the ring to show or lend a hand taking sheep back and forth to the pens. Your help is greatly appreciated!

We were excited to bring this set of sheep to offer for sale and we had an awesome show day with 14 of our 16 head standing in the Top 6 of their class. Our commitment is to always bring you the best we have to offer and it was rewarded in the ring. We were honored to be named the Reserve Grand Champion Ram with our yearling FRA 8823, who went on to be the second high seller of the sale. He sold for $5,000 to Dwayne Fisher and Family of Idaho. They also purchased both our Late Fall Ewe lambs and our Black and White January Ewe Lamb!
