Kind Canoe Restoration's

Kind Canoe Restoration's Husband and Wife living out their dream by taking old/outdated furniture and giving it new life. :) All done by .

When we are not spending time as a family camping, fishing, swimming, hiking, foraging, or restoring our 1880's farmhouse, we love working as a team utilizing both of our skills to surprise our customers with the mind-blowing transformation of their old, outdated or "plain" furniture. Some customers will give us an idea of what exactly they want but if you don't know, DON'T WORRY!! We LOVE to use

our imagination and leave you pleasantly shocked with our final product :) We also rescue sad looking furniture of all kinds from getting forgotten about and thrown into a landfill somewhere. After a complete makeover, it has became a whole new, unrecognizable piece ready to find its next home. Take a look at our shop located at 1447 Main Street in Oxford for not only our restored pieces, but also homemade jewelry, home décor, paintings on everything from canvas and saw blades, all the way to on mushrooms that we have foraged. Follow our journey not only with our furniture refurbishing but also bringing life and love back into our 1880's farmhouse. :)

Autumn always feels like a scurry to prepare for another harsh winter. However stopping to enjoy the short lived beauty all around us is a must. Taking in little ones helping with farm chores and working together as the best team to tackle all fall clean up jobs. While squeezing in our own fall home needs in between. As the seasons change so does our routines with more time together as a family.

It’s finally time to sell my first “ Painting made Purely from Nature,Making a change in Our World” piece.

50% of this purchase will be donated to Helping Hearts of Western Maine non profit charity who help others in need in any way they can.

With each piece purchased with your permission I would like to make a public post thanking you for your purchase in helping my mission to help others.
Also with each purchase you will get a write up with a description of the piece (Materials used, stone properties etc.) and how you helped our local charity with your purchase.
To either keep for your own records or to be displayed with the piece to help spread the word of my mission to others.
This is not only a chance to own a very unique one of a kind piece of art but also help others in need as well.
While I know not everyone will be able to afford these original pieces I plan to make a wide variety of smaller pieces as well as prints to sell and a percentage will also be donated from those sales.
Even by just giving this post a share you are helping in a tremendous way to spread the word to find this first piece a home and spread my mission to help others!

First piece “Earth pigment Flowers upon Birch Bark” $400.
Held within a metal Vintage Frame measuring 10.5 x 12.5 inches with velvet back.

Description: Canvas is fallen birch bark, painted with only my own handmade Earth pigment tempera paints.
The background was a red jasper stone found by our family here on the coast of Maine : “Red Jasper is grounding, passion, and protection.”
The blue flowers are Azurite/Malachite: “The Stone of Heaven”. “this stone is believed to provide better awareness and vision about all areas of life”.(this blue mineral also dates back to Egyptian era even older than lapis lazuli blue)
The green is green opal : “Green Opal is a stone that inspires cleansing and rejuvenation. It can be helpful for attracting positive change”
The centers of the flowers are white Mica from the local Mt. Mica mine here in South Paris:“Mica is thought to be helpful in restoring balance and harmony and is believed to promote feelings of love, peace, and happiness.”
The powder I created from these stones were then only mixed with a yoke from our own chickens and rain water to make tempera paint. A technique dating back over 5,000 years to Egyptian times.

If you would like to purchase please reach out through messages and we can figure out the best way for payment. This way I don’t have to list on a platform that will take a percentage away from the cause.

As always if you have taken the time to read this I have so much appreciation and love for you. Thank you for helping me be able to help others in need.

Husband helped me build these shelves for our kitchen. Top one is old barn board and the spice rack is newer wood I then painted to add age and grain. I am absolutely in love with how it came together. Next he’s building a folding countertop underneath to use while I’m cooking and save space when I’m not. Last picture is what it was before this project.

One of our many facelifts to our home this year. Our downstairs bathroom I always hated especially the purple. Husband redid the flooring and revealed shiplap behind the toilet, painted a emerald green and light marbled flooring it’s now one of my favorite rooms. We also recently put in a new sink vanity which I’ll post soon.

Goodbye old broken, nasty used to be island. Hello nasty floors I’ve just scrubbed with a toothbrush and mopped several times. Thinking of a rolling island or a small countertop to have next to the stove and hopefully hanging our cast iron pot hanger to save space!

The cool things found in our 1880s barn never end. A whole mason jar full of hand made nails. Read that this place was owned by a black smith in the 1800s we find horse shoes, nail, metal wheel rings and more when digging in the garden.

Before and after of a vintage end/side table. Customer said they were looking for one, so I sent pictures of what we had in stock ready to restore and they picked this beautiful vintage piece. After cleaning, stripping, sanding, filling gashes, slashes and re-forming some of the woodwork and lines, it came out looking like a whole new piece. We still have a wide array of pieces waiting for a makeover, so shoot us a message and let’s bring some life back to, not only the pieces themselves, but their new home. We also restore your own furniture, tables, nightstands, TV stands, entertainment centers or anything else you can think of, so say goodbye to blah and say hello to awesome! We do custom requests or ask you a few questions and surprise you with then end product 🙂 Plenty of great references, photos of previous work and fair prices. Shoot us a message today and see how we can help transform your home, or like and share our page so your friends can take advantage🙂

These end tables are almost ready to be up for grabs for a new home. Second picture is what we started with, Cody chose the color and I decided on hand painting lupines on the tops.

Absolutely in love with how this all came together!! I hand mixed the grey for the bottom cupboards using the white and black from the counter and top cupboards then added in a tiny bit of blue acrylic pigment. The way the copper came back to life and shows against both colors is so beautiful.
