We at Acheulean wish to invite all of you to exercise your right and privilege as American citizens. Go vote. We support candidates that believe that all Americans deserve education, autonomy over their healthcare choices, and are free to live the way they feel best for them, books are not dangerous, science is important for national security and the betterment of all humankind, a free and peaceful world can only be possible when we as a nation support democracies here and abroad, we abide by indigenous agreements, appreciate the sacrifices of those in uniform and putting them in harms way only when all other avenues to peace have been exhausted, and America should be led by intelligence, ethics, compassion, and strength. We support politicians that work towards those goals, and believe in the Constitution where Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of happiness means for ALL Americans regardless of race, creed, gender, or socio-economic status.

It is important to remember everyone that has contributed to our profession. More often than not it wasn't the big institutions, or well known researchers but every day folks.

For Native American month we would like to celebrate the life of a person who contributed to our field. Stories are only as powerful as the voices that tell them, and we should strive to have as many voices telling the stories of the past as possible.

When art history and archaeology mix! Now we just need to get a print of this for our office!

More than 500,000 years ago, our human ancestors used large, stone tools known as "Acheulean handaxes," to cut meat and wood, and dig for tubers. Often made from flint, these prehistoric oval and pear-shaped tools are flaked on both sides and have a pointed end.

It's always nice to be mentioned, though we are just a small part of a larger collaborative effort. We are thankful to be included on an exciting project and look forward to seeing the potential this will have on bringing economic benefits to eastern KY and help preserve the significant cultural resources of the region!

ASHLAND The mounds at Central Park could be one leg of an archeological landmark trail in northeastern Kentucky.

Acheulean staff along with other volunteer archaeologists are volunteering their time to work with the City of Ashland, KY to help preserve the resources of Eastern Kentucky, and promote the significance of the sites. A big thank you to all the volunteer archaeologists that are lending their expertise and skills, and the City Council for letting this important work enhance the understanding that Eastern Kentucky played in the prehistory of the region!!

ASHLAND As the new playground at Central Park is under way, archaeologists were out Thursday to sift through the dirt in hopes of discovering more about Ashland’s past.
