There’s just something about them.

This mother daughter pair have been in my practice since last July and they have only recently started cuddling me.

I have started to take on a few new donkey clients recently and am happy I am able to provide care.

Still trying to limit clientele to a 45min raidius from home.

My newest client isn’t quite sure how he’s supposed to feel about me.

He was a very good donkey boy for an overdue trim.

This 3mo old bean sprout had his first training day!!

He did so good! We’re waiting on a him sized halter to fit properly and get use to, but we slid the big one I have on and didn’t tie or anything and he took it like a champ!!

He let me lift and rasp all 4 feet calmly!!

His mama was semi feral and one of my hardest donkeys to work on, but with time and patience we got off the sedatives and have been having calm sessions for a while.

I think little man picked up on his mamas calm and is set up for success to be a goodest boi!!

I wasn’t aware I was being filmed.
This is 100% how I am working on animals.
Big one, little ones..

Teddy here has been in my practice for 2 years and he hasn’t always been this relaxed for his trimmings.

When we got started the leg I’m working on here was a loose cannon firing shot after shot. Trimming him was a struggle and sometimes we had to skip this particular hind foot altogether.

I told his guardians it’d take time and patience but he would eventually be my friend and sessions would get better.

Slowly they have, today (no photos) while trimming his sisters he stayed close and even was checking me out under one from the other side and even hanging his head over to be in my space and I turned my head to give him a kiss. Before, he stood as far away from me as he could and he had to be tied for everyone’s safety.

This was a most unexpected moment captured and sent to me that makes my heart so happy.

I had quite the audience this afternoon!!

2nd Rehabilitation trim for this wonky donkey!

We’re getting closer!

Her guardians report that she’s been running around and kicking up her heels more and having an overall better attitude.

Her coat is shedding nicely and she doesn’t have any sores on her body anymore!! Which to me says she’s not laying around as much.

We still have a long way to go and the rehabilitation will happen hoof by hoof, but I’m really pleased with how far I’ve gotten her at this point in time!

One of the hardest things I’m encountering is how many people struggle to find a farrier to work on their donkeys.

I have a wait list, due to my illness. I no longer feel able to comment on groups when folks are looking because I’m unreliable about when I will feel well. Struggling even with my longtime clients about actually keeping an appointment date.

I am glad I’m able to help as many as I can.

These are the WORST donkey hooves I’ve ever had the pleasure of working on. With each nip I wasn’t sure what I was going to find.

I spoke to her adopters in depth what to expect from here and they will haul her into a vet if they can’t get one on property to do radiographs.

I took her to a point I knew she would be more comfortable in the mean time and will be following up via text and an appointment to assess.

I believe with time, patience and care she will have nearly normal functioning hooves soon.

I got to meet and work on Desperados hooves today. He is in training with Mullens Horsemanship for the Appalachian Trainer Face Off.

I am sponsoring his feet trimming and bodywork during his time here.

He’s the cutest, sweetest and smartest little fella!! He’s got the wittlest mustache and gives very nice kisses!!
