California Forward’s Economic Summit was amazing! Got a chance to meet new leaders, connect with friends and colleagues and learn a lot!
Through several tracks including: Industrial (R)evolution Track, Democracy Track, Regions Up Track and Resiliency Track we had the opportunity to hear from so many leaders across California’s key regions around themes related to civic engagement, procurement, affordability, clean energy and more!
Some additional takeaways:
-Procurement is one of the most powerful—and underleveraged—tools to advance equity and local economic growth in California.
-Civic groups and governments across the country are developing ways to engage the public in informed dialogue on issues of concern, in ways that have been shown to produce good results.
-There is a growing national emphasis on domestic supply chains, through recent legislation here in CA easing regulations for manufacturing facilities, leaders still need to define”advanced manufacturing” and discuss strategic industries for California.
-Communities across CA can leverage the emerging model of Climate Resilience Districts (CRDs)—local financing entities designed to capture and align resources for proactive investments that reduce climate risks to better equip our regions with national disaster preparedness.
