Here’s one of the featured projects from our Windows Through Wires event. The Nixie Tube Clock Kit by Andrew Geppert.

This kit was purchased fully assembled via eBay as an “Arduino Shield.” It was designed by gra-afch.com

As it stands now, it is a stock design, with a small firmware modification to provide the “slot machine effect” to ensure all the filaments are used frequently. Future expansion will connect a GPS module for automatic time setting. The team at GRA & AFCH has created a masterpiece, and Andrew was excited to expand the functionality and art of the base design. An Arduino Mega 2560 drives the clock.

Join the community at the Supplyframe DesignLab for the Sound of Logic featuring the Klangorium event on December 19th. Space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot today! (Link in bio)

The Klangorium project builds upon the concepts introduced in the “Logic Noise” series on Hackaday, a collection of articles and tutorials that explore the potential of simple digital logic circuits for generating complex sounds. Created by Elliot Williams, “Logic Noise” serves as an inspiration for those interested in the intersection of DIY electronics and music creation, showcasing how basic components can be used in innovative ways to produce audio signals.

Date: December 19th, 2024
Time: 6:00 - 9:00pm PT

General Admission: Attend a short introduction to the Klangorium, a performance by Eli Pechman from Mystic Circuits, and hang out, help, and have fun.

Limited Klangorium Seats: Solder a Klangorium of your own! There are over 550 solder joints so we will be working on limited sections of the board, the rest is homework :)

We’ll see you later for Disassembly Academy!

We’re surrounded by consumer electronics, but we don't often get to peek inside them. Let’s tear them apart to learn how they work and how they're made. Our goal is to learn manufacturing design—from the inside out.

We'll take apart a few retired products based on group interest and look inside to see what behind-the-scenes design professionals have accomplished. Hands-on participation in the teardown is encouraged.
