As we're getting ready to close out the first half of the year, I've been reflecting on some of the common challenges I see across growing businesses.
One of them is how roles evolve over time.
As companies grow, employees take on new projects, become the go-to person for certain tasks, and step into responsibilities that may not have been part of their original role.
Before long, the role on paper doesn't quite match the role in practice.
More often than not, that's a positive sign. It means people are growing, adapting, and helping the business move forward.
At the same time, it's worth paying attention to. When roles evolve but expectations and responsibilities aren't revisited, confusion and misalignment can follow.
I've included a few simple ways to identify when a role may have changed and whether it's time to take a closer look. đ
