NW Underground Utilities, Inc., Sub-Contractor of Charter/Spectrum Communications, is an Underground Utility and Communications installation company based out of Tri-Cities, WA, and has been in business for 24 years and counting. NWUU is looking for a full time, entry level General Laborer. A General Laborer will typically work in crews of 2-4 in residential, commercial, and/or new developmental areas to complete projects and tasks as assigned.
Job Duties:
Performs various physical manual labor duties as assigned.
Assist crew leaders, foreman, and equipment operators in hand digging and locating underground obstructions.
Moves, secures, installs, loads, or unloads materials and equipment to take to varies jobsites.
Work with or around specialized equipment including excavators, directional drills, saws, and other equipment, which may require on the job training.
Effectively using light and heavy equipment, depending on the jobsite/assignment.
Moves items from place to place, according to direction from the Project Manager and Owner. Experience with hauling heavy and large trailers and equipment a plus.
Moving tools, equipment, or other material as directed in plans or by Project Manager.
Work safely around machinery, including excavators, trenchers, dump trucks, work vehicles, and more.
Other tasks as assigned by Project Manager.
Job Requirements:
Must have a valid drivers license with clean driving record (no more than 2 moving violations), no exceptions. Must be able to provide copy of driving record upon hire.
Must be able to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling.
Must be able to work independently and with a team. Must get along well with others.
Must be able to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold. If schedule permits, start time may be earlier in Summer months (6:00 am) to beat the afternoon heat.
Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
Must be able to travel out of town on occasion (Eastern Washington and surrounding areas within 2-4 hour radius). Per-diem offered per night and hotel stay provided by NWUU.
Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen, and comply with our impairment-free workplace policy.
Selected candidate(s) must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen which includes screening for all drugs considered illegal or controlled by the State of Washington.
Overtime (time and a half) may be available and/or required, depending on project schedules and workload.
