Encanto performs tomorrow at CaliPaso Winery for the Festival of Albarino!
Entertaining us with their own eclectic style of acoustic Spanish guitar playing and they call it Nuevo Flamenco.

Their Nuevo Flamenco style combines the traditional flavor of the Spanish Guitar with a mix of Pop, Jazz and Latin styles, making it upbeat--very much like the styles of Ottmar Liebert, Gypsy Kings and Marc Antoine.

Come and join us for an afternoon/evening of wonderful entertainment amazing food and tantalizing Albarino!

Shale Oak 2015 Albarino

With a keen eye on sustainability in every facet of our business, we grow and make best-quality blends and single varietals in limited quantities. We exist as cohesively as possible with the forces of nature on the west side of Paso Robles, in the heart of the Central Coast of California.

CONCEPT
Adhering to the belief that form follows function, Shale Oak was built by a carefully crafted team. While each
individual is a strong expert in her/his respective field, the group synergistically came together to plan, plant and build a vineyard, winery and tasting room that would have next to zero impact on the surrounding environment. The project was awarded Gold LEED Certification upon completion.

TASTING NOTES
This Albariño is bright and shiny, with tropical aromas of pineapple, honeysuckle, jasmine, lemon and pink grapefruit. The somewhat exotic nose comes through on the palate, with highlights of coconut and grapefruit. There is a decidedly crisp minerality character; nicely juxtaposed by a creamy texture derived from the time spent in neutral French oak barrels.

Santa Ynez Valley – Clover Creek Vineyard

Inspiration

I discovered Albariño during a family vacation to Spain in the mid-1990s and fell in love with its exotic flavors and refreshing acidity. I was inspired to produce a wine from this varietal and in the early 2000s had the wonderful opportunity to have a small plot of Albariño planted at Clover Creek Vineyard. Our first vintage was in 2004.

The Wine

The wine has a medium straw gold color. The complex aromas are of flower blossoms and tropical fruit with a hint of toasted cashew nuts in the background. On the palate the flavor is reminiscent of apricots along with a lovely saline character in the finish. The wine’s great acidity, which is a hallmark of classic Albariño, gives the wine a clean, crisp and lingering finish.

Food Pairings

This wine will pair well with a wide variety of seafood including oysters, crab and traditional Pulpo Gallego - octopus with olive oil and paprika.

Golden Straw hued tears gently travels down the side of the glass. The honey and peach on the nose is reminiscent of a fresh spring day. The soft minerality is a nice balance to the florals. This has brightness, acidity and balance in the mouth. The creamy finish allows you to enjoy even longer. Spanish varietal from Rias Baixas
