Big changes are coming to Onward Science!

What began as a science communication project is now taking on a new role.

Onward Science is joining the Synchronicity Coaching “Synchroverse” as our platform for middle-year science discovery.

While Little Laurie introduces early learners to the wonders of nature and Ninja Née brings hands-on STEM adventures to elementary students, Onward Science will continue the journey—supporting curious learners as their questions about the world grow and their investigations become more hands-on and exploratory.

One of the first initiatives under the Onward Science banner will be the Discovery Lab, a series of hands-on science experiences designed for students ready to experiment, investigate, and think more deeply about how the world works.

We’ll be working with schools, homeschool communities, libraries, and local partners to create opportunities for students to explore science through curiosity, experimentation, and real-world discovery.

More details will be announced soon.

If you’re an educator, homeschool leader, parent, or community partner interested in bringing Discovery Lab programs to your group, we’d love to connect.

Stay tuned—Onward Science is just getting started.

5 new workshops are ready for release! Watch the schedules of your local libraries and other institutions of learning, or hit us up to host your own.

The Stories Before Words
Inspired by the cave paintings at Lascaux, participants create natural pigments and paint on stone, exploring how humans told stories long before writing.

The Rosetta Code
Inspired by the Rosetta Stone, participants inscribe clay tablets using modern and ancient-style writing systems, exploring how language was shaped and preserved across time.

Marks of Legacy
Modeled after traditional Asian seal carving, this workshop guides participants to create and imprint a personal mark, experiencing how symbols carried meaning before modern signatures.

From Earth to Home
Participants weave and apply earth-based materials to build a small structural panel, exploring how early settlements transformed raw land into shelter. An indoor variation is available.

Twining: Basketry by Hand
Participants twine natural fibers into a functional basket, learning how woven materials supported daily life and community across cultures and time.

We’re excited to share that Synchronicity Coaching has been invited to serve as a community partner at the Long Island Fairy Festival at Sands Point Preserve on May 2nd.

Through its Forgotten Skillz brand, Synchronicity will be hosting The Ranger Grove — a living training ground tucked within the woods where visitors can step off the fairy trail and into hands-on wilderness skill stations inspired by ancestral knowledge. Throughout the day, participants of all ages can rotate through fire making, shelter building, knot and cordage application, navigation challenges, and safe Ranger defense drills. It’s immersive, practical, and just the right balance of experiential learning and straight-up fun.

At Synchronicity Coaching, we believe learning becomes transformational when it’s embodied. The Ranger Grove reflects the heart of the SynchroVerse: education that moves beyond theory and into lived experience. Forgotten Skillz reconnects modern learners with timeless competencies — not as nostalgia, but as living knowledge that builds confidence, resilience, and curiosity.

The Fairy Festival is already a magical celebration of imagination and community. The Ranger Grove adds another layer: the opportunity to train, explore, and discover the skills that once helped people thrive in the wild places of the world.

If you’re attending on May 2nd, step into the Grove and join the training. We’ll see you in the woods.

We’re honored to share that Vision Martial Arts, in collaboration with Synchronicity Coaching, has been invited back to Brookhaven Free Library for another series of Tai Chi Simplified.

The library has also expanded the program this season — and we’re excited about it.

Alongside Tai Chi, they’ll now be offering a more dynamic Chinese martial arts experience for teens and adults on the same dates. While the movement will be stronger and more athletic, the heart remains the same: using traditional kung fu as a pathway for self-discovery, discipline, resilience, and personal growth. Each session weaves practical mindset lessons directly into the physical training.

Dates:
3/11
3/18
4/15
4/22
4/29

Tai Chi Simplified: 2:00 PM
Kung Fu for Personal Development: 6:00 PM

Both programs are completely free and open to the public.

Whether you’re looking for calm, centered movement… or a more powerful physical expression with deep mindset work behind it… there’s a place for you.

Details and registration info will be posted soon at:

We’re grateful to the library for continuing to invest in programs that build strength — not just in the body, but in the mind and character as well.

Little Laurie spent a lot of time in the snow this weekend. Even the simplest play can become a powerful learning experience!

Last night’s snow told a story.

It started light and fluffy.
Then it turned wet and heavy.
By morning, it had piled up and formed a frozen crust on top.

To a child, that’s not just snow—it’s layers, textures, and changes happening right in front of them.

This kind of moment is a perfect invitation to wonder.

Here are a few gentle prompts parents and educators can offer:

“How does the snow feel in different places?”

“What happens if you press on the crust?”

“Why do you think some snow is fluffy and some is heavy?”

“What do you notice underneath the top layer?”

No need for answers.
No need to explain everything.

Curiosity grows when children are given space to notice, touch, compare, and ask their own questions. Winter does a lot of the teaching for us—we just have to slow down enough to see it.

One of the most powerful things educators, leaders, and mentors can do is allow their humanity to be seen.

When history is presented through a human lens—highlighting moments where great figures lived, rested, struggled, and connected—it shifts something important. It reminds us that the people we admire were not distant ideals. They were people. And that realization matters.

In learning environments, especially with young people, there is often a temptation to project infallibility: strict boundaries, perfect ex*****on, no visible mistakes. But learning rarely thrives there.

When leaders are willing to participate alongside learners—to miss a step, lose a round, or recover from a mistake—it reframes failure. Errors become part of growth rather than something to avoid. Confidence follows curiosity instead of fear.

The result is subtle but profound. Learners begin to imagine themselves becoming capable, resilient, and skilled—not because perfection is modeled, but because progress is.

Humanizing leaders—whether historical figures, teachers, or mentors—does not diminish greatness.
It gives others permission to grow into it.
