A quick note about contacting me…

Many people ask why I don’t post or hand out my personal cell phone number for The Lost Sock.

The honest answer is simple: over the years, I’ve received calls and texts at all hours for things like a quarter getting stuck, questions about machine availability, or other non-emergency issues. While I understand those situations can be frustrating, I also have a full-time career in addition to owning and maintaining the laundromat.

For that reason, the best way to report an issue is by messaging The Lost Sock page or emailing me. That allows me to keep track of concerns, respond when I’m available, and make sure nothing gets overlooked.

If I ask a few questions about a machine or request a photo or video, it’s never because I’m asking customers to fix the problem. It’s simply to help me understand what’s happening so I can determine whether it’s an isolated issue or something that needs immediate attention before I can get there.

I truly appreciate everyone who supports The Lost Sock. My goal has always been to provide a clean, reliable laundromat and to address issues as quickly and fairly as possible. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of this small business. ❤️

Met the sweetest customer today who reminded me why I haven’t sold this place… yet. ❤️

So naturally, I went into full cleaning mode.

To everyone who says owning a laundromat is “passive income”… I’d love to introduce you to my mop, vacuum, toilet brush, and the mountain of lint I met today. 😂

Huge shoutout to my Aunt Kimm for holding down the fort every single day. She’s the real MVP. ❤️

Enjoy the clean floors… because they’ll probably last about 17 minutes. 🧺✨

Dear Anonymous Napkin Author,

Thank you for informing me that my floor is disgusting and my washing machines are "super disgusting."

As the owner, janitor, repair technician, maintenance department, customer service representative, accountant, vending machine stocker, and occasional therapist for customers having dryer-related emergencies, I'll be sure to add your concerns to my to-do list.

I would also like to recognize my Aunt Kim, who volunteers her time several days a week to help clean, maintain, and care for this laundromat. She does it simply because she's a wonderful human being and wants to help me keep this place running. So if you're handing out criticism, please know there's a pretty amazing woman donating her time behind the scenes trying to make this place better for everyone.

A friendly reminder that The Lost Sock is not owned by a corporation with a cleaning crew on payroll. It's run by me—a person with a full-time job who spends many evenings and weekends fixing machines, mopping floors, emptying trash, and trying to provide a clean, affordable laundromat for the community.

That said, if we're talking about things that make the laundromat dirty, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that some of the biggest contributors are the members of the public who leave dryer sheets on the floor, garbage in carts, detergent spills, lint everywhere, and somehow manage to miss a trash can from three feet away.

Those insults are completely fair.
If you see something that needs attention, I genuinely welcome feedback. A respectful conversation goes a lot further than an anonymous napkin manifesto.

Sincerely,

The Entire Management Team
(which consists of me and Aunt Kim.) 🧦❤️

P.S. If you happen to see the person leaving coffee cups, dryer sheets, and random socks all over the place, feel free to leave them a napkin.

Let’s keep it real… if your clothes come out soaking wet, it’s probably not the machine 👀
Here’s your quick “don’t mess this up” guide to laundry day:
🔴 Respect the Red Tape
Those lines aren’t decoration. Don’t fill past them unless you enjoy unbalanced loads and wet clothes 🙃
🌀 Front Loaders Need Balance
If it won’t spin out, your load is off. Mix your items and spread them out—a weeks worth of clothes = bad decisions.
🧼 Detergent FIRST. Always.
Putting soap in last = it ends up stuck in the rubber seal or falling out as you try to close the for. Save yourself the mess.
🧺 Top Loaders Aren’t Bottomless Pits
Spread clothes evenly around the agitator. Dumping everything in one side isn’t a strategy.
🔥 Dryers Need Air, Not Overcrowding
Cramming it full won’t dry your clothes faster… it’ll just give you warm, damp disappointment.
💡 Friendly Reminder: These machines work great… when we use them right 😉
Thanks for keeping things running smoothly at The Lost Sock 🧦
Where we lose socks… not patience (well… most days 😅)

🚨 Breaking News from Your Friendly Neighborhood Laundromat 🚨

We regret to inform you that The Lost Sock has discovered a new hobby…

💥 Washer Door Slamming Championships 💥

While we admire the passion, strength, and apparent personal vendettas against our machines… our washers? Not so much. They are delicate creatures. Gentle. Sensitive. Not emotionally equipped for WWE-level door closures.

So just a quick reminder:
👉 The doors are meant to be closed, not sent into another dimension.
👉 A soft click will do. We promise. No extra points awarded for impact.
👉 If the door doesn’t close easily, forcing it like it owes you money is not the solution.

Let’s all work together to keep the machines running so your clothes come out clean—and not stuck inside a washer with a broken door and a questionable life expectancy.

Thanks for your cooperation (and restraint 💪).

🧦 PSA from The Lost Sock 🧦
Good morning! While doing a little self-care for our machines (aka cleaning the dryer vent), we uncovered what can only be described as:
• A family-size offering of crushed Cheez-Its/Cheetos living rent-free in the dryer vent
• Popcorn… in the washer 🍿
We love that you’re multitasking, but our machines are here to wash clothes — not host snack buffets, movie nights, or whatever late-night munchie experiment this was.
Friendly reminder:
👉 Pockets are for lint, not lunch
👉 Dryers are not air fryers
👉 Washers are not popcorn makers
Our socks are already lost.
Our patience, however, is hanging by a single thread. 🫠
Thanks for helping us keep The Lost Sock clean, crumb-free, and emotionally stable.
