At ECS, our cobot machine tending cells don't just load and unload parts. If they got time to lean, they got time to clean! One of my favorite things to do is transfer finishing operations from the machine to the robot using and either or . This is a cell we worked on a few years ago where the client had a Fanuc robot tending their Mazak with a tombstone setup. We mounted 3 tools on spindles mounted to a table and the robot would unload, load, then while waiting on the Maz, it would perform the deburring operations that were usually performed by the Maz cutting their cycle time considerably.

I cannot say enough about our new UR cobot welding setup with Smooth Robotics ApS Smooth Tool welding solution. I've mentioned that one of huge benefits of this set up is that it provides a low cost entry into cobot welding because we can use the retrofit kit to connect to any of your existing welders. I wanted to test this out so I actually brought the UR5e home, installed the Smooth Tool fl**ge and URCap, and hooked up to this little Lincoln 90i mig (which is all running on 110v power mind you) and ran some t profiles on 3/16" with gasless flux core. I'm also very sure I can find a few folks to attest that I am in fact the 3rd worst welder on the planet and this is how my first ones came out. If I can do that with that little 110 buzz box, imagine what you can do with your in house equipment! Better yet, we've partnered with Sidney Lee Welding Supply Inc. so we can offer you state of the art robotic power sources from Miller, Fronius, ESAB, and more!
