I picked Nyla up from summer camp and she started crying after she got in the car.
She told me everything that went wrong that day & said she didn’t want to go back. I strongly considered speaking to the director and pulling her out. 😡
Her biggest issues were she saw 3 of her best friends and they were all doing the gymnastics camp together, but she was doing the explorers camp and didn’t know anyone.
The next issue was a little boy was being mean and bothering her. 👊🏽
While driving home, I began thinking that this would be a great learning opportunity for her bc I want her to learn how to navigate difficult situations on her own.
👉🏽Just like God allows us to go through difficult situations to strengthen us.
👉🏽 I always go deep when explaining things to my kids and end up preaching to myself in the moment. 😩
She wanted to be in the program with her bff’s bc she had FOMO. Who can relate to that? 🙋🏽♀️
So instead of focusing on that, I encouraged her to put herself out there and introduce herself to people so that she could meet new friends and have fun. She couldn’t even enjoy what she was doing bc she was so concerned about what she was missing with her friends.
✨Bc of her outlook, she began focusing on the negative throughout the whole day and complained about everything that went wrong. Making her have a bad day.
Now how often do we go through these things as adults? Getting so caught up in what other people are doing, looking at them have fun, while missing out on opportunities to do something new and create our own joy.
Regarding the lil boy... I had to remind her of what her name means (Champion). I had her shout it at the top of her lungs. Champions stand up for themselves and do not allow others to dictate their happiness.
👉🏽 This was a reminder to me to use my authority, open my mouth and speak the Word over my life when fear and doubt try to creep in.
After our chat, I encouraged her to give it another try. Needless to say, she went back the next day and said she had so much fun! She met new friends and stood up to the lil boy who was bothering her, and he stopped messing with her. 💁🏽♀️
