Here’s something you need to know about Be Fierce And Kind’s founder Amber Sheppard. Seriously: her parents can vouch for this. Is it her unique sense of humor or just her neurodivergent brain? The world will never know, but it works for her. Amber’s approach to educating and consulting with small businesses and serving the community is no different. Whether you’re a Slidell small business or a Ne
w York City based Fortune 500 company, she has set out to prove you can be an advocate for your community and teach about “boring” topics while still maintaining your humanity, humility, and humor. Before becoming a full-time attorney licensed in Louisiana and Mississippi, Amber was a Director of Operations for a national company and SEO content whiz. She’s got 13 years of organic marketing under her belt. Oh and she’s a strength sport athlete and nonprofit founder too. She organized the first Olympic weightlifting club in Mississippi (Mississippi Barbell) and developed international medalists. Amber’s passion shows in her practice, having helped “mom and pop” shops, international brands, and local nonprofits. Always one to give back, Amber launched a small business webinar series infusing humor into legal topics beneficial to start ups and large brands. That was when she learned she had the “gift of gab”: she could make folx laugh while teaching them about boring stuff. Amber and her service dog Tubbs travel the world educating businesses, organizations, and residents on business law, mental health, and service dog laws. It's her goal to help folx incorporate inclusive business strategies through diversity and inclusion for disabled employees, disability business consulting, and accessibility audits for businesses. Amber’s passion is writing and educating: she has been published close to 30 times in state, national, and international publications as it pertains to legal issues that affect business owners and service dog handlers. She has also submitted Amicus Curiae Briefs on behalf of various dog rescues in Louisiana. She’s also the main content writer on business law, intellectual property, and dog law for an international legal database. Whether as a writer or editor, she has worked on over 300 SEO-integrated articles to date. She formed the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Be Fierce & Kind Canine to provide therapy dog services and education to schools and courthouses. Thanks to her efforts, she formed the first therapy dog program in 22nd JDC courthouse for abused children, trauma affected individuals, and folx with mental health issues. Their Assisted Outpatient Treatment program with a therapy dog is the first in Louisiana. Yall want the nerdy awards section of a biography? Here you go:
