WELLS FARGO EMPLOYEE FOUND DEAD AT DESK AFTER FOUR DAYS — COWORKERS THOUGHT THE SMELL WAS PLUMBING

On Friday, August 16, 2024, 60-year-old Denise Prudhomme arrived at a Wells Fargo corporate office in Tempe, Arizona, around 7 a.m., scanned her badge, and went to her third-floor cubicle to begin her workday.

She never left.

Over the next several days, employees in the building noticed an unusual odor. Because many workers were remote and Prudhomme’s cubicle sat away from heavily traveled areas, some reportedly assumed the smell was coming from a plumbing problem.

By Tuesday, August 20, a coworker discovered Prudhomme at her desk. Police responded to a report of a person down and pronounced her dead at the scene. Authorities said there were no immediate signs of foul play.

Roughly two months later, the medical examiner determined that Prudhomme died from sudden cardiac death related to scarring in her heart.

The discovery left employees disturbed and questioning how someone could remain unnoticed inside a corporate office for several days. Wells Fargo said it was deeply saddened by her death and made counseling resources available to employees.

What made the situation even more shocking was that the building reportedly had around-the-clock security.

For four days, Denise Prudhomme remained at her desk while people continued coming and going around the building.

And somehow, no one realized what had happened until Tuesday.
