This has been a monumental week! On Monday we had the pleasure of welcoming our newest members. With this group of hiring we will now be back to full staff once they return from the academy!

Congratulations to Robert McCallister, Austin Kleiber,Ty Fate, Trey Bailey, who were sworn in as the City of Pekin’s newest Firefighters! We welcome you aboard and wish you the best for a successful career!

The fire service has always been about showing up for one another. Not only at the station, but for our families too. Now we have the opportunity to show up for one of our own.

Rosey, the 2 year old daughter of Firefighter Nick Miyler, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. A malignant tumor that has affected her every day comfort, daily function, and sadly her ability to walk. She has started treatment to start shrinking down that tumor so it hopefully goes away and stays away. Rosey is a sweet, feisty little girl with a whole lot of fight in her, and right now she and her family are facing something no family should have to face alone.

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Awareness is vital in combating this devastating illness, but research is even more important. Shirts are available to be ordered from the T-Shirt house and 10 dollars from every shirt will be donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation . Shirts may be ordered by calling 309-346-0336 until September 14th.
