It is remarkable to consider that these Chicago Hardy figs originated from last year's growth, and it is noteworthy that they remained on the tree throughout fall, winter, and spring to provide this gift before the 2026 figs arrive.
Check in with us towards the end of the month.

This is a large Parsley plant, big root system, don’t you think? Being that I am into cooking, I use a lot of herbs. Regretfully, even though Parsley is considered a perennial, it only last two years. When it goes to seed, it is finished. It takes effort, planning and will power, but I can see a blend of herbs in my future. I now grow Parsley, (birth Italian and French) Rosemary, Reganio, Thyme, and Cilantro. Any other that you think I should include in the blend? Sorrel leaves might be a good addition and the leaves of Shallots. This dried blend would bring out the flavors of your soups and good for roasting meats.

Today I embarked on a journey to discover the new Farmers Market in Pelzer, by the gym. It was fun to connect with Tyler and turned out to be a truly uplifting experience! I was thrilled to meet Tyler, the visionary owner of Little Bitty Farm. I purchased these exquisite French style Radishes and savored them in the traditional French way - with bread, butter, and radishes, a match made heavenly. What an incredible delight, thank you Tyler!

Somebody's gotta tackle this problem, right? I adore Fava beans and planted them in the same spot, which in retrospect was a huge blunder. This year they're struggling and I consulted my agricultural guru Walker Miller Ph D. He yanked out a root and now I'm aware I'm hosting Root knot nematodes, nasty microscopic worms that plague roots. Apparently they're more prevalent here in SC's warm sandy soil than anywhere else. It turns out they're a common commercial agriculture nuisance. But get this, the one thing that really bugs them is shrimp shells! It's a stinky job but someone's gotta eat them!
