On a Flight? Keep It in Sight!

When traveling by air, lithium-ion battery safety is especially important.

🔋 Keep portable charging devices where you can see them—such as on your tray table.
🚫 Never charge devices in an overhead compartment.
🚭 Never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on an aircraft.

If a battery overheats, begins smoking, or fails, the flight crew needs to be able to see it and respond quickly.

Our NJFD members know that whether we’re on the ground or in the air, battery safety matters!

🔥 Feels Hot? Stop Using It.

When it comes to lithium-ion batteries, don’t ignore the warning signs.

🚨 Stop using the device immediately if the battery:
• Smells strange
• Feels unusually warm or hot
• Makes popping or hissing noises
• Changes shape or color
• Begins to smoke

If it is safe to do so, move the device away from anything that can catch fire. Never take unnecessary risks handling a damaged or smoking battery.

⚠️ A damaged lithium-ion battery can overheat, ignite, and cause a rapidly spreading fire.

Know the signs. Stop the use. Stay safe.

🔌🔥 Cheap Charger? Don’t Chance It.

Not all chargers and cords are created equal. Using the wrong charger can damage your device’s battery, cause overheating, and increase the risk of a lithium-ion battery fire.

✅ Use the cord and charger that came with your device, or one approved by the manufacturer.
❌ Avoid cheap, damaged, counterfeit, or incompatible chargers.
⚠️ If a charger or battery gets unusually hot, swells, smells strange, or shows signs of damage—stop using it.

A few dollars saved on a charger isn’t worth risking your home, your family, or your life.

Charge smart. Charge safe. Don’t take the chance.

🚨 MCNEAL ROAD IS NOW OPEN! 🚨

McNeal Road has officially reopened following the gas leak that caused the temporary road closure.

A special thank you to Liberty Gas for their quick response and hard work in locating and repairing the leak, helping us get the roadway safely reopened.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation while crews worked to resolve the situation.

North Jackson Fire Department is currently at a gas leak on McNeal Road.

⚠️ McNeal Road is currently CLOSED.
Please avoid the area and use an alternate route until the roadway is reopened.

For your safety, please do not enter the affected area unless directed by emergency personnel.

In remembrance of the lives lost during and after the September 11th attacks, North Jackson Firefighters participated in the annual climbing of Stone Mountain in full turnout gear.

Today, North Jackson Firefighters remember those that perished in the 9/11 attacks.

Engine 44, which serves the Talmo community, is a veteran of 9/11 and served at the pentagon with Arlington County Fire Department.
