Exciting afternoon today.
I arrived at my last rodent job for the day and after greeting the customer and hearing her description of the issue at hand, I donned my coveralls, grabbed my tools and started the long crawl under the house to the area where the issue was occurring. After crawling over several HVAC ducts and squeezing under several more, I arrived at the far end of the sub area only to find that the floor joist was just a little too low to squeeze under. I couldn't get to where I needed to go. From my position, chest pinned against the dirt by a floor beam, I could see some "discoloration" right up by the mudsill where I believed the breach to be. My headlight wasn't bright enough so I grabbed my 1K lumen flashlight and lit up the whole area. It took me a second to realize it was not discolored insulation at all. It was black hair/fur. There was a small amount of white as well. As reality dawned on me, the hair/fur moved and it's owner dropped down onto the dirt about 8 feet from me. So there I am, pinned to the ground, nose to nose with a 🦨.
I was not nearly as amused while it was happening as I am now. I proceeded to army crawl, backwards, back out of that sub area on my elbows and toes at twice the speed I held coming in, all while dragging my tool bag behind me. Happy to say that I escaped the sub area without having my general aroma altered by my furry friend.
The happy ending? My new service tech, Michael Strong, has his Trapper's License so I didn't have to tell the customer that we could not help her. All of this to announce that Foothill Pest Control now offers live animal trapping.
