Colorado's new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) program is expected to expand recycling access across the state and help fund residential recycling services.

🔥 Important Reminder About Battery Safety 🔥

These photos show the aftermath of a recent fire at an Apex landfill in Steamboat that is believed to have been caused by an improperly disposed lithium-ion battery.

Thankfully, no one was injured and the fire was quickly brought under control. But incidents like this are becoming more common, and many people don't realize that everyday items like batteries and v**e pens can become serious fire hazards when thrown in the trash.

⚠️ Please DO NOT place these items in your trash or recycling cart:
🔋 Rechargeable batteries
💨 V**e pens & e-cigarettes
📱 Cell phones and tablets
🔧 Power tool batteries
⌚ Smart watches and other rechargeable electronics

When these items are crushed or damaged, they can overheat and ignite—sometimes hours after being disposed of.

How you can help:
✅ Recycle batteries at a designated drop-off location
✅ Never place batteries or v**e pens in your trash or recycling cart
✅ If you're unsure how to dispose of something, give us a call—we're happy to help.
