Good afternoon Everyone,

I just submitted three wishes to the Oceana County Community Foundation "Fall Wish lists" for West Michigan S.A.I.L.!

The three wishes, IF granted, will support our Veteran "Adaptive Sailing Program." Disabled Veterans will be able to sail!

These wishes will enable us to complete the preparation of "Challenge," our Adaptive Sailboat, which has sip/puff and joystick controls, similar to a wheelchair, that will enable disabled Veterans to sail!

West Michigan S.A.I.L. also has signed a contract with the University of Michigan's Occupational Therapy Department to supervise a Doctoral Candidate during her Capstone Project in Pentwater, next summer.

Hadley Moak, the Doctoral Candidate, and Ken Workinger who designed Challenge, have been coming to Pentwater this summer to complete the preparation of Challenge.

We are preparing "Challenge" for its inaugural launch!

Thanks to Mark and Krissy for so much help!

"Challenge" is Hull # 1 of the Challenge-Mountain 20 sailboat design, by Ken Workinger who designed boats for Tiara and S-2 Yachts.

Challenge was built by the Great Lakes Boat Building School in Cedarville, Michigan, and rigged by Irish Boat Works in Harbor Springs.

Sails were made by the Bluffton Bay Sailmaker, Jimmy Frisinger, located in Muskegon, and an affiliate of Quantom Sails.

I signed a contract with the University of Michigan Flint Campus, Occupational Therapy Department to supervise a Doctoral Candidate during her Capstone Project.

Hadley Moak will be in Pentwater this coming Saturday to prepare for:
• launch,
• stability tests, and
• plan the location of the final hardware that will enable disabled Veterans to sail.

To say we're excited is an understatement!

I just skippered a History Cruise this afternoon, and Ray Kloostra was the History Museum Docent...beautiful afternoon, very nice couple.

For the remaining balance of October we will offer Friday and Saturday History and Sunset Cruises, if the weather allows.
