A question I receive often! Below are some quick tips for checking where you might be losing money in your business…
1. Services. Are you getting paid for ALL of your services? Avoid giving freebies that require high material and labor costs. You could actually be putting yourself in the hole! One client I worked with was providing a “free” service and when calculated realized they were losing up to $20k each year.
2. Accounts Receivable. Who is checking that your invoices are actually being paid and how quickly are they getting paid? Monitoring this regularly will make sure you’re getting paid for your hard work.
3. Cost of Goods Sold. When did you last price check your supply vendors? Could you save any costs in this area to make your gross profit margin better?
4. Expenses. This is a great spot to check for cutting costs. Are you using all those tech subscriptions? When did you last get your insurance premiums quoted?
5. Debt. This is an obvious one, but if you aren’t paying off that business card each month you are losing money every month on interest.

If you aren’t sure where you stand on your numbers, we are here for you!

There is a stigma that as a solopreneur you have to have all your stuff together! The reality is, most of us don't and when you're growing, you reach a point of capacity where you have to start delegating. You have to start determining where your expertise lies and what is draining you and not allowing you to flourish. There are limited number of hours in a day and you are only one person. One of your very first hires should be a bookkeeper who can get your finances organized or if you are organized, can take over the role, so you can continue to invest your energy into your passion and skill. Not only will your finances thank you, but you will gain knowledge through the process about your business you didn't know you needed.

Sound like you? We are happy to help. Email [email protected] and we can get you started!

As a reminder, for a limited time, Ops Made Easy is offering small business owners a "diagnostic" review of their financial recordkeeping to "check and diagnose" if there are any problem areas that should be modified in 2023 to make future tax times smoother.

When you sign up for this $75 review, we will have a 30-minute zoom call and when done, you will feel confident in your next steps.

Should you find that you're needing more help in this area and would like to use our services going forward, the $75 review fee gets applied to your first month of service. Comment below or send us a message if you'd like to participate in this offer.

We are delighted to serve our clients through all phases of their business and new ventures. We help Tracey with typical services of bookkeeping, payroll, POS reporting, TPT returns, and yearend reporting. Of course, these services can be offered by any standard accounting firm. WE ARE DIFFERENT because as we are working together, we identify gaps that require some Human Resource (HR) or Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) "love" and lend that expertise too! Processes were documented for Tracey so that her and her staff clearly understood what needed to happen with different duties and responsibilities. That's the "Ops" side of Ops Made Easy! Numbers are huge, but people also need to know what's expected!

Bookkeeping…Accounting…Taxes…QuickBooks…Blah, Blah, Blah!

The list of undesirable words just keep coming this month, don’t they?

For the next couple weeks, now through April 7, Ops Made Easy will be offering sole proprietor/LLCs (tax deadline of April 18) and S-Corps (your deadline was March 15) an opportunity to have your books “checked” like your car would be in an auto shop!

For $75, we will have a 30-minute Zoom call where I will provide an abbreviated scan of your books, identify potential problem areas and answer some of your most pressing questions.

My goal at the end of our conversation will be for you to feel empowered that YOU’VE GOT THIS and to understand what BIG FIXES need to happen before going forward.

Spaces are limited, so if this is something that interests you, snag your seat now! Comment “Help” below or message me!

Please note, this is a review and conversation based on a limited view into your world. The suggestions made should be verified with your tax preparer as they have a full view of your financial situation. The conversation will be regarding bookkeeping practices and not financial advice.

If you are consumed with debt or know there are better ways to manage your money and are ready for a change see Jessica and if you haven’t established your will or trust or so many other responsible adult documents see Kara! I get it! Receipts are the most annoying thing ever to business owners. Regardless of your feelings, the IRS won't count your business expense if you can't produce the receipt for it and that can also mean penalties for you. Receipts should be saved for at least 6 years and "the shoe box method" doesn't work since most receipts fade after a few months. Check out the images to see some helpful tips to electronically manage your receipts. Ideally, receipts should be filed with your monthly bank/card statements and reconciliations so if audited, everything is in one place organized. DM if you would like more information about this subject and I'll be happy to share.

Thoughts and prayers of comfort go out to those remembering lost loved ones today and salutations to those who continue to fight for our country's freedoms. September 11, 2021 was one of the craziest moments in my life and I hope we never have to see something like it again on our home front. It is comforting to see our air force jets fly over as a reminder of those who are prepared to fight for our freedoms should that day come. ❤️
