❤️ A MESSAGE FROM JR DISPOSAL ❤️

This has been an incredibly difficult week for so many across our area.

To every firefighter, law enforcement officer, first responder, dispatcher, emergency management team member, volunteer, road crew, and neighbor who has stepped up to protect our communities and help fight these fires, thank you.

We see the long hours. We see the exhaustion. We see the sacrifices being made while so many of you are working around the clock to protect people, animals, homes, businesses, property, and entire communities.

From all of us at JR Disposal, we love you, we appreciate you, and we are praying for you.

We are praying for every family who has been directly or indirectly affected; especially those who have lost their homes, their businesses, their land, livestock, belongings, and pieces of their lives that cannot simply be replaced. Our hearts are with you.

We are also praying for every firefighter and first responder still standing on the fire lines, for their safety, strength, and protection.

We are praying for RAIN. 🙏🌧️

Lord, place Your hands over these fires and smother every flame. Protect every person fighting them, calm the winds, open the skies, and send the rain our land so desperately needs. Bring comfort and provision to every family and business owner facing loss, and surround our communities with Your protection.

Our communities have been through a lot, but one thing continues to shine through when people need help, Texans show up.

Please continue to pray for our first responders, our neighbors, our families, our business owners, and every community affected.

We just received this in one of our emails and wanted to make sure our community knows what our local Planet Fitness in Mineral Wells is doing for those affected by the fire.

They are opening their doors 24/7, free of charge and with NO membership required, for anyone needing a shower, a place to charge devices, or simply somewhere cool and safe to get out of the smoke.

This also includes our firefighters, first responders, and volunteers who are working so hard for our community. 🚒❤️

With everything going on right now, I know so many people genuinely want to help, and that is an amazing thing. ❤️

But I do want to offer one word of caution:

If you are wanting to make a monetary donation, I highly recommend donating DIRECTLY to the fire departments themselves or through an official organization the department has verified.

Please be very cautious about sending money to individuals or businesses through Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal accounts, or other online payment methods simply because someone posts that they are “collecting donations.”

There is absolutely nothing wrong with businesses and individuals purchasing and delivering water, food, supplies, or other needed items. That kind of community support is wonderful and greatly appreciated.

But when it comes to actual cash, please do your homework. Unfortunately, emergencies can bring out the absolute best in our communities, but they can also create opportunities for people or businesses with questionable histories to take advantage of people's generosity.

I have already seen some payment accounts being circulated that personally raise red flags for me, which is why I strongly encourage everyone to give directly to the fire departments whenever possible.

If you're giving $20, $100, $500 or more because you want to help our firefighters, you deserve to know that your money actually made it to them.

Help. Give. Support. ❤️ Just give wisely and make sure your generosity is going where you intended it to go.

JR Disposal Update

At this time, we strongly encourage everyone to keep a close eye on trusted local news sources, law enforcement, emergency management, and elected officials for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding fire conditions.

Our office will remain closed today due to the possibility of changing fire conditions.

Our trucks are still running where they can safely do so, and our crews will continue to use their best judgment throughout the day. However, if they are unable to safely access an area because of current conditions, we will return to that area next week.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please stay alert, stay safe, and allow our first responders to do the important work they are doing for our communities. ❤️
