With everything going on right now, I know so many people genuinely want to help, and that is an amazing thing. ❤️
But I do want to offer one word of caution:
If you are wanting to make a monetary donation, I highly recommend donating DIRECTLY to the fire departments themselves or through an official organization the department has verified.
Please be very cautious about sending money to individuals or businesses through Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal accounts, or other online payment methods simply because someone posts that they are “collecting donations.”
There is absolutely nothing wrong with businesses and individuals purchasing and delivering water, food, supplies, or other needed items. That kind of community support is wonderful and greatly appreciated.
But when it comes to actual cash, please do your homework. Unfortunately, emergencies can bring out the absolute best in our communities, but they can also create opportunities for people or businesses with questionable histories to take advantage of people's generosity.
I have already seen some payment accounts being circulated that personally raise red flags for me, which is why I strongly encourage everyone to give directly to the fire departments whenever possible.
If you're giving $20, $100, $500 or more because you want to help our firefighters, you deserve to know that your money actually made it to them.
Help. Give. Support. ❤️ Just give wisely and make sure your generosity is going where you intended it to go.
🚒 LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENTS — DIRECT DONATION INFORMATION 🚒
For anyone wanting to help our local firefighters, here is a list of departments in and around the area.
PLEASE... before sending money through Cash App, Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, etc., contact the FIRE DEPARTMENT DIRECTLY and verify where they want monetary donations sent. If the department itself provides you with an electronic payment account, that's different. The point is to make sure your donation actually goes to the department you intended to support. ❤️

❤️ THE SAFEST RULE IS SIMPLE: ❤️
If you want to give money to a fire department, give it DIRECTLY to the fire department.
Call them.
Message their official page.
Visit their official website.
Mail a check directly to the department.
Or use an electronic payment method after the department itself confirms that it belongs to them.
Please don't assume that because an individual or business posts a Cash App, Venmo, Zelle or PayPal saying they're “collecting for the firefighters” that the money is actually going there.
Our firefighters need and deserve the support let's just make sure 100% of what we intend for THEM actually gets to THEM. 🚒❤️
