It’s that time of year. The garden produce is slowing down, families are getting their kids ready to go back to school, and football season is right around the corner. But for me on the acreage, this time of year triggers me to start prepping for winter. Yes, winter!
Before we know it, old man winter will be rearing it’s ugly head. Now is the time to prepare so we aren’t scrambling as the temperatures begin to drop or we’re caught off guard with an early snowfall.
Two things take top priority for me:
1. Get the fireplace professionally cleaned/inspected, and
2. Get the firewood moved/split.
There are many other things on my list but this is the most important. Specifically the fireplace inspection and cleaning. Splitting firewood and getting it moved to its proper location is always time consuming and laborious. But I don’t want to be caught without having enough and I begin this process early. So, get those fireplaces inspected/cleaned and the firewood split/stacked…winter is closer than you think.
And while you’re at it, have your dryer vents cleaned too. Let’s keep us all safe this winter.
