Hey! Want to try our program with your friends?

Let's be realistic. Not everyone has the perfect set up for the Cool Block program. There are various reasons why someone may not be able to participate.

However, we don't want any real-life factors to prevent participation, so we are testing out friend-based teams! Natasha had a pizza and champagne dinner with her own group of friends and it was so successful we want you all to have the opportunity to try this option!

Please attend one of our half-day trainings with your friends and we will get you set up for success!

* Sunday, March 24, 2024 from 1-5 PM in person. Petaluma Community Center
* Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 1-5 PM in person. Location TBD.

How much do you love this precious planet Earth?

How much do you love the abundance and diversity of life and landscape that appear so uniquely on this one blue-green marble floating through space?

How much do you love past, current, and future generations of owls, salmon, newts, and humans?

Between climate change and social division, we are living through a critical moment in history where our actions right here, right now will have an unprecedented effect on the fate of the future.

In our Cool Petaluma office we keep this Buckminster Fuller quote on the wall:

"In order to change an existing paradigm you do not struggle to try to change the problematic model. You create a new model and make the old one obsolete. That, in essence, is the higher service to which we are all being called."

We are calling on you to join us in building a community-led climate action movement that creates a new model for a thriving, connected, and regenerative future. (And we already have a dozen cities across the country interested in replicating our model!)

Here are two ways to help:

1. DONATE - Tax-deductible gifts of $500-$1,000+ ($50-$100/month) are incredibly important as they help us reach our goal quickly, but a gift at any level makes a big difference. This year we have proven that lots of small actions add up to huge impact! https://www.coolpetaluma.org/donate

2. GET INVOLVED - We will be training a new cohort of Block Leaders in early 2023, so please let us know if you'd like to be involved in one way or another! Step up as a leader and/or share your special skills and talents. For example, Peter Stein donated his beautiful artwork entitled "Dear Earth" featured here and we love it so much! https://www.coolpetaluma.org/join-us

Thank you all for making this first year extraordinarily successful. We can't wait to see what we accomplish together in 2023.

Cheers to a new year and a new era of compassionate, collaborative, and creative future building! It feels so good to be on this journey with you all.

With much love,

Natasha

What's the most important work you do? Think about that for a minute.

Now think about how it would feel to spend 2 hours a week for 9 weeks working on emergency preparedness, neighbor connectedness, water savings, energy efficiency, and the overall health, safety, and happiness of your household and your neighborhood. Pretty darn rewarding, right?!

Here’s how to make that happen…

I am excited to be working with a large group of Petaluma individuals and organizations on a new project. WORK Petaluma is a Community Partner and we need your help.

People are becoming more and more aware that the climate crisis is not something that will happen in the future. JUST LOOK AT THAT ORANGE SUN! It is happening now, and there is not much time left before many of the irreversible environmental tipping points have been passed. We need to take swift action.

So what can we do? Right now, Petaluma is in the running for an innovative new challenge grant called the "Cool City Challenge," a community-based program that focuses on building up our social networks to help neighborhoods become more planet friendly, disaster resilient, and community-rich. This grant encourages residents to get involved by offering funding to those cities who can show they have ample community support to achieve major collective action. To do this, Petaluma needs to sign up 200 Cool Block Leaders by the end of the month. We know we can do this with your help!

Please join me as I host the 350 Petaluma Cool Block Information Session this Thursday, 8/19 at 6:30 PM on zoom to learn more about how to be part of this unique opportunity and become a Cool Block Leader. If you can't make this time, other organizations are also hosting sessions. Go to: aqus.com/cool to see the full list and RSVP for the zoom link!

The following Petaluma organizations have already committed to be part of this challenge and there will be many, many more:

City of Petaluma – Petaluma People Services Center PPSC – Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) – Petaluma Family Resource Center – Zero Waste Sonoma – Mary Collins School at Cherry Valley – Boox Eco Packaging – Jupiter Foods – Lunchette – Out West Garage – WORK Petaluma – 350 Petaluma – Aqus Community Foundation – Daily Acts – G Street Action – ReLeaf Petaluma – Point Blue – Rebuilding Together – Live Oak Families for Climate Action – and many more coming....

This may be our greatest opportunity to help our community!

Please join us.

Join us TONIGHT!

350 Petaluma Presents: Spare the Air this Summer - Mowers & Blowers & Generators, Oh My!

Thursday, June 17 from 6:30-7:30 PM - Guest Presentation & Discussion - Alternatives to High-Polluting, Gas-Guzzling Equipment. Clean energy expert Ben Peters will walk us through some exciting backup power alternatives to diesel-powered generators. Patrick Picard, owner of Equinox Landscape, will explain how his company made the switch to electric landscape equipment six years ago in a special video interview. We’ll then use this new knowledge to brainstorm how 350 Petaluma can help.

Just a quick reminder of some upcoming events for all you climate action supporters. We’re gaining momentum and we want you to be a part of this movement with us!

Hey all! I've been pouring a lot of effort into 350 Petaluma these days. Check out June's Climate Action Magazine! :)
