MISSION STATEMENT AND
DISTRICT INFORMATION
Our mission at the Dunklin Fire Protection District is to ensure the citizens, business professionals and visitors of the District that they are safeguarded by providing a rapid and professional response to an emergency incident. The Dunklin Fire Protection District was formed in 1974 after a vote of the people to combin
e the Pevely Valley Fire Department and the Horine Volunteer Fire Department to become a political subdivision of the State of Missouri governed by a three member, publicly elected, Board of Directors. The Dunklin Fire Protection District is made up of 22 square miles of the Northeastern part of Jefferson County. The Fire District is bordered to the North by the Rock Community Fire Protection District and Antonia Fire Protection District. To the west by the Goldman Fire Protection District and Mapaville Fire Protection District. To the South by the Festus Fire Department and Herculaneum Fire Department. To the East is the Mississippi River. The District covers the City of Pevely, parts of the City of Herculaneum, rural Festus and the rest is unincorporated Jefferson County. As of 2016 the Dunklin Fire Protection District operates out of one engine house located at 1987 State Rd. Z Pevely, Missouri 63070. Property for a future house two is located at 1133 McNutt School Rd. Herculaneum, Missouri 63048. We serve a population of approximately 10,000 and respond to over 1,200 calls a year. The Dunklin Fire Protection District is a combination of paid and volunteer firefighters that consists of a Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, 4 Captains, 6 paid Firefighters and Volunteers.
