I orchestrated an intervention for a 28 year old male on Sunday night who is a heavy daily drinker. He definitely is starting to have health issues with is liver. My next intervention will be for a 24 year old female who is experiencing liver symptoms as a result of heavy daily drinking. Liver disease related to alcohol consumption is not limited to middle age.

In South-Central Wisconsin, 55 people died from liver disease in 2009, including 35 with alcoholic liver disease. That made it the 14th-leading cause of death in the area.

I could not be more proud of this woman. She is a warrior for her family. I was blessed to be able to help her help her husband and young adult son find recovery. The minimum federal minimum wage is $7.25, though many states have set it higher. If you’re struggling right now, you may be tempted to hide your feelings. But when you do, you’re actually disregarding your own experiences. You can’t feel joy when you can’t be authentic. Whether you’re happy, sad or resentful, finding healthy ways to honor yourself and where you’re at emotionally is the kindest way to manage the holidays.

Pretending “you’re fine” doesn’t work. When you can’t be honest, it’s hard to be present. Your energy is spent trying to put on a happy face.

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I have worked with clients who appear to be desperately trying to perfect their exterior in a cry for love and acceptance. The reality is that self worth comes from the inside and no matter how perfect one looks that will not bring the feeling of being good enough without doing the inner work.
