Wolf spiders peak in October and November as males roam looking for mates. They're ground hunters — not web builders — which means they end up on garage floors, patios, and inside through weatherstripping gaps.

They won't kill you. They will absolutely ruin your night when you flip the garage light on.

Quarterly customers stay ahead of this. Everyone else sees it, posts about it to the neighborhood group, and then calls us.

October is Kraig's busiest month. Every year.

The pattern: homeowners on quarterly service don't call during cricket season — the perimeter barrier is already there. The calls come from people who weren't on a schedule and are now watching crickets march into their garage.

That gap is the whole case for being on quarterly before the problem is visible.

Get ahead of November's indoor migration too. (512) 537-1475.

Field crickets are drawn to light. UT Austin dims its 307-foot bell tower during cricket season for this exact reason — it stops the mating-flight attractor and the swarms thin out.

Same principle, residential scale:

1. Turn off decorative landscape lighting after 10pm.

2. Switch porch lights to yellow bug bulbs (they emit a wavelength crickets don't track to).

3. Close blinds on windows that face your porch so interior light doesn't leak out.

It won't eliminate crickets, but it'll meaningfully thin the swarm. Combined with Webb's quarterly perimeter, it's the full fix.

Here's what Webb's quarterly exterior perimeter actually does for cricket season.

We treat a continuous barrier along the base of your home — foundation line, weep holes, garage door threshold, eaves. The crickets that would have swarmed your porch cross that barrier and don't make it inside.

It's the same treatment that handles roaches, spiders, scorpions, and ants the rest of the year. Cricket season just makes it visible.

One visit, under an hour, EPA-approved products, kid and pet safe once dry. (512) 537-1475.

Crickets love cardboard, stored boxes, piles of lumber, and anything sitting against a garage wall. Lift it and they scatter.

That's the problem. Garages open daily. Crickets wander inside the house. Then your kids find one in the kitchen at 2am.

Three quick safety-safe fixes before you call anyone:

1. Lift and clear anything flat against the garage floor or wall.

2. Turn off decorative outdoor lights after 10pm — they're the biggest cricket magnet in your yard.

3. Check the weatherstripping on your garage door for daylight gaps.

Still overrun? That's what quarterly exterior perimeter is for. (512) 537-1475.

Field crickets live in cracks in the ground, under logs, and in leaf piles all summer — small, inconspicuous, invisible.

In October, the first cool-down signals mating season. The crickets mature into their adult form, go looking for mates and places to lay eggs, and swarm toward anything warm and lit.

Once they mate and lay eggs, they die. Which is why Austin's October cricket outbreak always ends on its own — but not before piling up on porches, pool decks, and under car hoods for three to four weeks.

Save this. It happens every year.

If you've opened your front door this week and watched a wave of black crickets scatter — welcome to October in Austin.

It happens every year. The first real cool-down triggers field cricket mating season, and they swarm toward porch lights, garages, and anywhere warm.

Webb's quarterly exterior perimeter treatment is the actual fix. Call (512) 537-1475 — we can be out this week.

September in Central Texas is doing what September does.

Rodent calls climbing every week. Wasp and hornet calls at their annual peak (defensive, colonies at maximum size).

And mosquitoes — the pest most homeowners assume are done — actually spike in September and October because cooler nights slow evaporation, standing water lingers, and everyone cancels their treatments right when they matter most.

We're booking fall quarterly service and monthly mosquito treatment through October. (512) 537-1475.
