All I Want For Christmas
(as dictated to me by Josephine :) ) ...

I’m back with you a second time
Through no fault of my own
For you to help me once again
To find my lifetime home
I’m not the horse for everyone
I have some special needs
But I’ve got a heart as big as Texas
And I only want to please.
I need a place that’s filled with lots of love
And carrots would be grand
F***y scratches, ear rubs …
A kind and gentle hand.
Firmness when I’m naughty
Lots of “good girl”s when I try
Patience when I don’t understand
Or when I ask you “Why?”
A hay rack stuffed with fluffy hay
Barn cats are quite fun
A pasture with a lot of grass
For napping in the sun
My jammies when I might be cold
Hot mashes are divine
But best of all … please, please, please …
A person that’s all mine.

Josephine's nitty gritty details for those interested in possibly becoming her person...
Very petite (read "tiny" at currently 13hh) 2 y.o. Spotted Saddle Horse (best guess) filly. She was an orphan that we took in/raised and that was adopted from us as a foal. She returned to us a couple of months ago through no fault of her own, as her adopter did not have time for her. She is adorable, sweet and overly willing ... BUT ... requires someone fully capable of tons of regular love, as well as the tough variety. She is not always fully familiar with the fact that she is a horse, much preferring human interaction than to hang out with others of her own species. Therefore, it is imperative that ground rules are consistently enforced .. in a firm, yet kind manner. A small adoption fee and a contract are requirements, as are exceptional references from an ample amount of folks willing and able to convince us of your amazingness. Must be willing to check in regularly with updates and photos. If you find that invasive, so be it and simply keep on scrolling by. We are this filly's safety net and she will not be lost in the vicious cycle that so many horses get stuck in thanks to humans letting them down. The family that ends up with this very special filly will be stuck with us as extended family from that point on. Feel free to contact me if you would like to chat a bit...

Okay, everyone. Looks like Irma may be making life uncomfortable for some in the coming week or so. Jeff and I will be doing some work on the currently unused pastures over the next few days as far as bush hogging and checking fence on the chance that some of our friends near the coast are going to be needing a safe place to evacuate to. Horses must be up to date on vaccines and coggins.
Options will include:
*two large pastures with run-ins and enough room for 4 horses in each pasture.
*Two arenas but no shelter, though the trailers could be parked in there as temporary "stalls" for smaller beasties.
*Another large pasture with room for 3. This pasture does NOT have a run-in shed but does have a good sized stand of trees, including cedars, for some shelter.
*Two stalls available BUT this will be in our quarantine stall area and they are next to the gelding that we have just brought in from a sale ... he shows no signs of anything but fair warning regarding his quarantine status.
* With a little bit of fenagling, we can turn three areas in the main barn into stalls in a pinch while still having no horse to horse contact (sorry, I'm a germophobe when it comes to our furry family members).
Transport is also a possibility.
Priority to those folks that we know well ... my apologies to those that we do not and that does not mean that they will not be welcome once we know that those close to us have safe accomodations.
We do have room to park lq trailers/campers and have room in the house for human and small animal "guests". Quite a bit of room if all are willing to utilize couches, floor space, etc. in addition to the spare bedrooms. Any small animals must either be well socialized (and up to date on vaccines) or be content to be crated, stay in a bedroom, etc.
We are flexible and willing to think outside the box to be sure that everyone (furry and not) stays safe through this storm. But thinking ahead is a priority. If you think that you may be in the path of the storm and need a safe place further inland to be, get in touch as soon as you can.
Keeping fingers and toes crossed that this is all going to make a shift to blow back out to sea but all of those model thingies are looking pretty threatening at this point......

Sizewise, Annie (Andromeda GKF) has got to be the littlest foal that we've ever had on the farm. Personality-wise? Shakespeare had it right in saying "'Though she be but little, she is fierce!'. Not in the usual way of "fierce" ... more of a strength of spirit type of fierce. Truthfully, it's like having an absolutely adorable and interactive beanie baby on the farm. Granted, she is quickly becoming a little chunk and she is growing like a w**d. Let's face it, with one parent being 16.1 and the other almost 17 hands, she's bound to be a good sized girl but ... for right now ... I love being able to bend over and pretty much envelope her in a whole body hug. :) As you can see in the photos, there's no denying whose foal she is ... those Friesian traits are running true (that neck!!).

Filly number three has been nicknamed "Bean" (as in jumping bean) for the moment. Talk about energy and suspension! :) Out of reg. Oldenburg mare, Delilah (by Donatelli), and by our Holsteiner stallion. Absolutely stunning. Photos are from just a few days old and on her first outing out into the round pen to figure out those ridiculously long legs!

And next in the 2017 filly lineup is Kyrie GKF. This extremely elegant and expressive girl is out of Wee Bit (Bit of Class/Hall of Fame) and by our Holsteiner stallion, Liberty's Fyre PT. Both of her full brothers are going to be finishing out just under 17 hands, so we expect that she is going to be a good sized girl. Sweet, beautiful, athletic. :)

Playing catch up with updates to the farm. :) Arrival number one this year was Kestral GKF, also lovingly known as "Dozer" (she is enormous). Out of Guinevere and by our reg. Friesian stallion, Marten TA. The word "amazing" doesn't even begin ...

Lu (Grace RSH) had an impromptu photo shoot a week or two ago. Good golly but this mare is stunning to watch. It doesn't get much better than this ... movement, substance, elegance and awesome temperament. :D This mare is possibly available to a phenomenal home.
