My father was an extraordinary man—an insightful teacher and a remarkably resourceful role model. As a used car dealer importing vehicles to Liberia from Europe (including Belgium, Holland, and Germany), he made a point of involving me closely in nearly every aspect of his local operations. From a young age, I accompanied him to the ports, government ministries, and business meetings. By the time I was in the 9th grade, I was managing paperwork, basic bookkeeping, sales negotiations, and maintaining financial ledgers. This was especially remarkable given that he himself had never received formal Western education.
It’s my deepest intention to offer my daughter the same level of guidance, if not more—to ensure she is equipped, empowered, and supported to rise even higher.
