✨ Feelings Friday! ✨
As July comes to a close, so does our little journey through words that English doesn’t quite have.
This month, we’ve explored words that helped us notice connection, belonging, savoring, and the small experiences that make life feel rich. It felt right to end with one that reminds us happiness isn’t only found in the present—it can begin long before the moment arrives.
Vorfreude is the joy of looking forward to something good.
Positive psychology has a name for this too: anticipatory savoring. It turns out we don’t have to wait for vacation, a visit from a friend, a concert, or even our favorite season to arrive. Part of the joy comes from the looking forward.
I love that there’s a word for that.
✨ What are you experiencing a little vorfreude about these days?
Thank you for coming along on this month’s Feelings Fridays. I hope these words gave you a few new ways to notice the beauty of being human. 💛
