Not a saber, but a build nonetheless. This was my Sunday Tierfon Time build from this past weekend. After a failed crown stem cutting incident, followed by a SECOND failed crown stem cutting incident, I finally buttoned this one up. I still have A LOT to learn about this hobby! Custom case with exhibition case back, genuine Japanese NH35 movement, custom gold date wheel, and this one will be going on a two part black strap, my favorite that they offer.

Just some more day to day over here in the shop. And no, you cannot pay for your hamburger, that you already ate, 4 weeks from now. To my fellow makers, how many of you have heard some variation of this.

But now its time to clock out and have some dinner. Ill pick this one up and wire up the board, as well a design a clear housing for the barrel neopixels. Have a good evening everyone!!

Saberbay “Temperance” — Custom Install

The Temperance is one of the latest offerings from Saberbay, designed by Joey Mulligan, and I couldn't be happier to see one of Joey’s designs brought to life as a production hilt. This saber feels right at home in the old Republic era—elegant without being fragile, refined without being overly ornate.

What immediately stands out is the use of mixed materials. Aluminum, brass, and wood all come together in a way that feels cohesive and intentional. The proportions are excellent, the ergonomics are spot on, and the overall design strikes that perfect balance between Jedi craftsmanship and functional tool.

This particular build is my personal saber, which meant I faced the eternal question: to weather or not to weather?

At Joey’s suggestion, I decided to weather it—and I’m glad I did. The process brought out details that would otherwise have been easy to miss. The brass components received a combination of chemical and natural weathering, developing subtle green patina in the recesses, while the aluminum was treated with Aluminum Black to give it a gently aged appearance. The wood veneer was carefully treated and sealed to preserve both its texture and character.

For the install, I designed a custom PLA chassis featuring a 2020 accent strip running down the spine to take advantage of the grip window. A custom resin lens helps diffuse the light for a cleaner effect, while additional accent LEDs add a little extra life to the reveal.

The audio setup is a massive one. A 33mm Titan speaker from ShtokCustomWorx is housed in a dedicated speaker pod within the pommel, and the sound output is absolutely incredible. The Proffieboard is tucked away in a hidden, angled mounting arrangement, keeping the presentation clean while still maintaining full accessibility.

The result is a saber that feels exactly how a old Republic weapon should: elegant, timeless, and built to be used rather than displayed behind glass.

MB Sabers “Metal Master” — Graflex Reveal Chassis Install
When it comes to Graflex chassis design, the Metal Master by Martin Beyer sits in a class of its own.

Over the years, Martin has continued to refine and evolve this chassis, but one thing has remained constant: it represents some of the finest engineering and craftsmanship in the hobby. Equal parts functional hardware and mechanical artwork, this aluminum and brass masterpiece is, in my opinion, one of the most impressive reveal chassis designs ever created for a Graflex.

I've admired Martin's work since long before I entered the hobby, so finally getting the opportunity to install one of these was something special. If anything, working with it only increased my appreciation for his talent. Every component fit together with remarkable precision. No sanding, no persuasion, no "close enough." Just thoughtful design and exceptional ex*****on. His build documentation was equally impressive—clear, concise, and incredibly well organized.

Simply put, this chassis was a pleasure to work on from start to finish.

I had a slight advantage on this particular build, as several components arrived pre-weathered and partially assembled. That made for an excellent introduction to the build and left me even more excited for the next Metal Master build already waiting in the wings, which I will be starting soon.
I did make a few small additions of my own along the way. I designed a custom board holder for the electronics section, created a resin plasma gate tube, and added brass mesh details to complement the existing design language. The goal was simple: contribute without distracting from the incredible work already present.
This is one of those projects that reminds you why you got into the hobby in the first place. A true blend of engineering, artistry, and craftsmanship.
