It's that time to start filing for 2023 and previous years, beginning January 29, 2024, for individuals and small businesses. As you gather tax forms and receipts for 2023, be mindful of the 1099-K form if you've used a third-party cash app. This form may be sent to you and should arrive by January 31, 2024. The company has the option to file an extension, with forms potentially reaching consumers no later than February 15th.Despite the IRS changing the law amounts from $600 to $5000 with 200 plus entries during 2023, this change came late after the original $600 third-party rule. Some apps might still send out the 1099-K using the old laws. Additionally, taxpayers with an LLC have a new document, BOI, to register from January 1, 2024, until January 2025, to avoid fines and penalties.2 Guy's 4U Tax & Notary Services is now accepting appointments from January 23rd, 2024.
