A busy day doesn’t have to mean a dysregulated nervous system.

A lot of high-functioning women move through the day constantly pushing, constantly producing, constantly holding everything together. Over time, your body starts to live in a state of stress without you even realizing it.

Regulation doesn’t require a full day off or a perfect routine. It’s often the small moments throughout the day that bring your body back to balance.

Stepping outside.
Slowing your breath.
Moving your body.
Hydrating intentionally.
Taking a few minutes away from stimulation.

Small regulation moments prevent burnout.

Save this for the days when everything feels overwhelming.

What helps you reset during a busy day?

Burnout for Black women rarely looks dramatic.

It looks like:
• Over-functioning
• Hyper-independence
• Quiet resentment
• Constant tension

We are taught to maintain.
To be composed.
To be strong.

But strength without regulation turns into shutdown.

If you’ve been running at 60% and calling it discipline,
this is your sign to reassess.

I have 3 private coaching spots open this month.

DM “READY” if you want details.

Some of you are not burnt out because you’re weak.

You’re burnt out because you’ve been equating pressure with progress.

You don’t need to abandon yourself to reach your goals.

You don’t need to override your body.
You don’t need to silence your emotions.
You don’t need to be harsh to be effective.

Strong women don’t collapse.
We adjust.

Save this if you’re building something and want to do it without losing yourself.

If rest makes you anxious, that doesn’t mean you’re lazy.

It often means your nervous system learned that slowing down wasn’t safe.

When you had to be strong early…
When you had to figure things out alone…
When productivity became protection…

Stillness can feel unfamiliar.

Regulation isn’t a personality trait.
It’s a skill.

And skills can be learned.

If you’re tired of feeling wired when you try to rest, this is the work I do with women inside my coaching.

3 spots open for March.
DM “RESET” if you’re ready.

If daily planning makes you feel like you’re failing,
switch to weekly structure.

Bare minimum.
Flexible.
Supportive.

Not impressive.
Sustainable.

Save this for your Sunday reset.

We’ve been taught to push harder.

But if pushing harder hasn’t worked…
maybe the issue isn’t discipline.

Maybe it’s the absence of structure that actually supports you.

You don’t need punishment.
You need systems.

Save this if you’re rebuilding differently.

Lately, I keep finding myself in the same conversations with other Black women: we’re tired. Tired from carrying so much, tired even while trying to rest, tired from always being the ones to hold it all together.

And here’s the truth—your exhaustion is real. Your burnout is valid. You are not the only one.

Sometimes the only way we truly rest is by stepping back. Taking a break from social media. Pausing from always being the caretaker, the space-holder, the one people rely on. And that’s okay.

✨ It’s okay to be tired.
✨ It’s okay to take a break.
✨ It’s okay to pivot in the name of your health and well-being.

You deserve that rest. Always.

From North Philly to Gorée Island, words of light have been traveling across oceans 🌍✨

The LightNote Project connects children in Senegal and the U.S. through affirmations, art, and community—reminding us that no matter where we are, there’s always light encouraging us to keep going. 🌱📚

What started as affirmations shared in my workshops now lives in two libraries, bridging cultures through creativity, language and care.

You can learn more about the LightNote Project through the link in my bio. And if you’d like to be part of this growing exchange, share your own LightNote—you may see it featured in our installations, on our page, or in our email. 💌
