Going live is huge for building authority, adding value, and showing off your expertise.

But it can be intimidating.

I remember going live for the first time ever back when was a thing (this is before FB had FB Live).

I was soooo nervous!

But I knew the future was in live video content, so I was committed to getting good at it, so I did it… a LOT.

And now, 6 years later, I can go live anytime and riff about business as comfortably as I could sitting down with a client or colleague.

If you wish you could be more confident and impactful when going live, here are are a few things that have helped me master the art of going live:

#1 - Practice!!! Do it over and over again. Then do it some more. It’s ok to suck at first. You’ll get better and better every time!

#2 - Talk like you're talking to your best friend. You don't have to have it perfect, you just have to give AF about your topic and about how what you’re sharing will impact the person on the other end of the video.

#3 - It's ok to pause and catch your breath. It gives people a moment to absorb what you're saying and you a moment to think about where you're going next.

#4 - Put a little post-it near the camera lens with bullets of the main points you want to cover because there is nothing worse than signing off and realizing you forgot to speak into something you wanted/needed to.

#5 - And most important… don’t take yourself too seriously. People want to know you are human and that means you won’t always be perfect. Just trust the process and keep going!

I don’t know who needs to hear this but you will always be refining your message.

And that means, you don’t need to *wait* to do something else until you’ve “nailed your messaging”

You are a human and as such, you are always growing and evolving.

So is your market.

And that means you will always have some new level of insight about your market.

And therefore you’ll want to update the way you speak to your market… and your ideal clients.

Business is a journey, not a destination.

Do not hold off on taking steps to grow your business while you try to get something “perfect” first.

This will keep you moving forward and driving the momentum forward in your business.

Do one thing.

Stop fragmenting your focus every year with a bunch of different strategies.

Too many coaches are spreading themselves thin and driving themselves into burnout by doing a different strategy every month instead of focusing on just one thing and getting really, really good at it.

Imagine if you didn't have to create new stuff all the time and could instead work on just one thing and make it amazing by refining and optimizing it over and over again.

You know what you’ll get??

Scalable results.

Work a strategy, prove it and improve it.

Then you’ll know you’re ready to scale it.

And then you can drive your results way faster without hustling all the time with yet another new offer or strategy.

Stop reinventing the wheel ever week/month/quarter and instead put your strategy on rinse and repeat.

It will change your world and your results!

Skills can be taught, attitude can't.

Athena and I have interviewed at least 100 potential job candidates over the last few years…

And almost every time we hire someone, it is based on our intuition and not on their resume.

As you’re building your empire, you will need to build your team and often the positions you are looking to hire into are not traditional roles, so hiring can be tricky at the outset.

However, if you go into the process of building your team with the understanding that you are hiring for attitude, not just qualifications, you are able to approach the process of hiring in a much different way.

Instead of focusing on job qualifications as the only determining factor, you can focus on who that person is, how well they can handle change and pivoting, how they manage stress, what kind of a leader they want, and where their passions lie.

What this will do is show you the type of attitude this person has and if they’ll be a good fit for your company’s culture.

Why?

Because you can teach them what they need to know once you hire them.

But you can’t teach someone to be passionate and excited about what you're doing.

So hire someone with the right attitude and teach them what they need to know to bridge the gaps.

Being a great leader will drive them forward.

Niche is a mindset.

If you have hesitated to niche down, ask your self what you’re afraid of losing out on.

Even when you scale and are able to work with thousands of people, you still won’t come close to running out of potential clients.

our world is vast and there are sooooo many people who need the unique gift you have to share with the world.

But they won’t find you if you are afraid to dial in and speak directly to them.

Niche is a mindset and when you do step fully into the unique value you add to the world, you no longer have to compete for attention.

It’s a game changer - and a foundational element of our method for scaling.

Define your space and step into your niche!

You can not automate everything but there are a few things you should absolutely automate to save you time and ensure you still knock your goals out of the park.

Three things you can and absolutely should automate are:

Client Onboarding - make sure your new clients have everything they need to be successful with your program, and that you have all the details you need to deliver a top notch experience for them.

Lead Nurturing - leads are great but if you don’t have a process for warming them up and making sure they are welcomed into your world, then they are just a metric you can’t really leverage.

Sales Follow Up - your fortune is in the followup. Most people need between 5-20 touches until they’ll be ready to buy, so be sure you stay in touch and nurture relationships so that you stay relevant and are there when they are ready to say YES!

We provide templates and scripts for all of these processes to our clients, so it’s simple to get these automations up and running in your business.

Are you half-assing your commitments or are you going all in?

I was a perpetual half-asser for a long time.

And as a result, our results were always less than I desired - even though I thought I was working “hard” enough to achieve our goals.

You have to go ALL in on your commitments.

Go all in on your strategy.
Go all in for your clients.
Go all in for your team.

If you have been unsure about exactly what it’s going to take to get the results you want, then join our Built To Scale program.

It will map a simple plan that shortcuts the time needed to grow and scale and takes out all the complicated steps a lot of coaches put between where they are now and where they need to be in order to scale.

Success is a decision.

While I’d spent a lot of time working on our mindset in our years as an entrepreneur,

I didn’t get this fully until I worked directly under a self-made millionaire.

Success comes from a fierce determination to your vision that allows little space for fear...

An unwillingness to fail…

A commitment to stepping forward without hesitation...

A strong sense of urgency…

And the understanding that investing in expertise will shortcut your results.

What’s the difference between a goal and a vision?

Hint: you need both

Vision is where it starts…

Your vision is the big picture.

For me - the vision is and has always been a life of utter freedom.

No one to answer to about our schedule.
The ability to be and live almost anywhere (with a wifi signal).
To be there for our kids when they need me.
Being financially free…

All of this drives me forward over the long term.

But the goals….

The goals are measurable and specific.

The goals are what will drive me forward day-to-day, month-to-month, quarter-to-quarter.

The goals are how you achieve the big vision.

Without the goals, the vision is nearly impossible.

And without the vision, the goals don’t have meaning.

Trust is as valuable an asset in business as your lead gen strategy.

When you don’t trust yourself, you start-stop.

It’s like trying to get a manual car out first gear but you keep jerking back and forth or you’re giving it a ton of gas but nothing’s happening.

You’ll get nowhere fast and you’ll likely burn a lot of gas doing it!

When you trust yourself, you know you’re making the right decisions…

And even if that decision doesn’t lead to a “win” it will lead to a lesson…

Because that’s just it… when you trust yourself you have no fear because you know you’ll figure it out.

You know every bump in the road is an opportunity and you know that whatever happens, it’s happening *for* you and it’s just another step on the path of growth.

Trust, trust, trust.

It will pay off in the long run!

Create a culture in your business that your team can get excited about.

This will keep the momentum going when things get hard.

The last few weeks have been a big stretch for our team.

We’re gearing up for the biggest launch we’ve experienced to date…
We have hired more people onto our team and are now a team of 10(!!)...
And we’re quickly pivoting and upgrading our systems…

All of this comes with growing pains.

But when you have a great company culture, the team will band together and weather the storm with grace.

our team is excited to work with us because we’re so passionate about what we do, we treat our team well, we are transparent and open to feedback, we give our team a voice, and we stand behind them 110%.

This alone is enough to drive your company forward.

Treat your team like you want to be treated.
Give them something amazing to get behind and they WILL!
