It’s here! The Annual Juneteenth Festival
It takes place this Saturday in the 6300 Block of Germantown Ave from 12-6. street closure with vendors, live entertainment, re-enactors, food trucks and more.
I will be at my shop during the festival. Make sure you remove your cars from the block by 6AM.
Stop by my shop to learn about the Society to Preserve Philadelphia African American Assets (SPPAAA), a historic preservation organization, and their exhibit on some significant properties.
Get a FREE Rubber Stamp and Ink Pad - and Stamp Your Art Out - make your own greeting card with rubber stamps. This is an initiative of SPPAAA in honor of Henry Ossawa Tanner, internationally acclaimed African American artist and my mom, Pauline Hill - rubber stamp artist (RIP).
Some of you know that I have been closed all year. It was for medical reasons. Diagnosed with cancer last fall, I went through surgery and then radiation this Spring. I am still experiencing side effects for that and other health challenges that will continue the rest of this year. As such, I have not really reopened. Some of you have caught me at the shop when I have stopped by to check on it. All I can say at this point, is:
If the Gate is OPEN, I am probably there and will service your need.
Collocated at our same address, we’re excited to partner with SPPAAA on their Restoration Grant initiative. SPPAAA hopes to provide micro-grants to properties that are in need of minor restorations. Your donations to SPPAAA, a 501-C3 organization, can make this happen. It’s super easy to donate. Just click the button below.
